La protezione dell’ambiente, la tutela delle risorse ecologiche e naturali, la valorizzazione sostenibile degli spazi urbani e rurali rappresentano per le società del terzo millennio degli incontestabili paradigmi etici e delle ineludibili realtà con le quali confrontarsi. Alla tutela ambientale si sono affiancati obiettivi più ampi, connessi alla fruizione dei contesti territoriali, in un’ottica di conservazione attiva, e si sono modificate le strategie di intervento in funzione della valorizzazione di risorse e contesti, nonché dello sviluppo delle specificità del territorio stesso. L’analisi di sostenibilità, come strumento per monitorare, reinterpretare, sviluppare e valorizzare un territorio, e in particolare il suo patrimonio naturale, è il tema di questo libro che riporta i risultati di una ricerca condotta da un gruppo interdisciplinare che ha condiviso l’approccio Life Cycle. L’approccio del Ciclo di Vita – che si sta evolvendo verso una metodologia in grado di recepire la dimensione locale oltre a quella globale, la scala macro e meso oltre a quella del prodotto, la dimensione sociale oltre a quella ambientale ed economica – può essere appropriato e praticabile nell’analisi di sostenibilità di un territorio? A questa domanda, in particolare circoscritta ad aspetti ambientali, di biodiversità e di accessibilità ambientale-spaziale, il libro intende dare una risposta sia sul piano teorico, sia con l’applicazione ad un caso studio: il territorio in cui è inserito il Parco regionale di Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli in Toscana. Il libro fornisce un quadro delle fasi di analisi e degli indicatori che le supportano e ne documenta l’applicazione a diverse scale nel contesto del Parco.

This open access book provides new perspectives on circular economy and space, explored towards the definition of regenerative territories characterised by healthy metabolisms. Going beyond the mere reuse/recycle of material waste as resources, this work aims to understand how to apply circularity principles to, among others, the regeneration of wastescapes. The main focus is the development over time, and in particular the way how spatial planning and strategies respond to new unpredictable urgencies and opportunities related with territorial metabolisms. This book proposes an economic and environmental assessment tool to help private and public building designers and owners determine the global sustainability value of green buildings from a life cycle perspective. As it demonstrates, sustainable life cycle tools for building design and construction can help to achieve successfully integrated architecture. The first part of the book defines the relationship between environmental and economic aspects in a sustainable design approach and illustrates how life cycle methodologies, including Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costing, can be applied to life cycle design. Further, it highlights methods for calculating costs from LCA data, taking into consideration both discounted cash flow and external costs. In turn, the second part of the book presents an experimental design model, the Life Cycle Design Model (LCDM), which is based on a life cycle design approach that can be used to produce two different outcomes based on two assessment levels. The first assessment level involves creating a grid, called a Design Matrix, which is useful in the design process. The second assessment level involves drawing on LCA and LCC results to develop a user-friendly tool for designers and other actors involved in the building process so that they can assess the most sustainable design option using €CO, a factor that combines the environmental and energy effects of the building system with time and costs. Selected case studies illustrate the practical application of life cycle analysis and show how reflecting the environmental impacts and costs can improve the sustainability of buildings. The LCDM represents a transdisciplinary tool for the design team and, at the same time, allows information on users’ needs and building performance to be communicated between experts and non-experts.

Il volume ha l'obiettivo di presentare i principali elementi della responsabilit sociale e di evidenziare le caratteristiche per una corretta applicazione nella gestione strategica delle imprese, anche di piccole e medie dimensioni, e delle organizzazioni. Il testo si compone di cinque capitoli. Nel primo si evidenzia la valenza strategica della CSR, intesa come nuovo approccio gestionale e innovazione per la sostenibilit dell'impresa e dello stakeholder network in cui questa inserita. Infine si affronta il fondamentale concetto di Sviluppo Sostenibile e la strategia in campo europeo su questi temi. Il terzo capitolo dedicato alla gestione socialmente responsabile. Si descrivono le scelte e le strategie d'impresa per la CSR, la relazione tra corporate governance e social responsability, i necessari interventi organizzativi, i pricnipali strumenti di gestione socialmente responsabile e si accenna al risk management e alla protezione aziendale.
