En las últimas dos décadas hemos visto una transformación radical en la industria mediática. La conformación de networks fue la vía rápida para lograr la convergencia tecnológica, la convergencia cultural y de consumidores. Así fuimos testigos de la hibridación corporativa y de géneros: edutainment, informerciales, infotainmet, politainmet, advertorials, advergames, newsgame… La comunicación se hizo convergente, híbrida, desregulada y digital. Con la aparición de las redes socio digitales la industria se reorganizó impactando no sólo los modos de producción, sino también de almacenamiento, distribución, consumo y socialización. A la competencia entre los monopolios públicos y privados se sumó la participación de las audiencias en los modos de producción; vivimos en ese momento el esplendor de la era de la participación.
