The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) project is research funded by the United States Air Force, the Navy and the University of Alaska with the official purpose of understanding, simulating and controlling ionospheric processes that could change the operation of communications and surveillance systems. It started in 1993 with a series of experiments over twenty years. It is similar to numerous existing ionospheric heaters around the world, and has a large number of diagnostic instruments with the aim of improving the scientific knowledge of ionospheric dynamics. There is speculation that the HAARP project is a US weapon capable of controlling the climate by causing floods and other catastrophes. In 1999, the European Parliament issued a resolution stating that HAARP was manipulating the environment for military purposes, calling for an assessment of the project by Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA), the European Union body responsible for studying and assessing new technologies. In 2002, the Russian Parliament presented President Vladimir Putinwith a report signed by 90 deputies from the International Relations and Defence committees, claiming that HAARP was a new geophysical weapon capable of manipulating the earth s lower atmosphere. In May 2014 it was announced by the US Air Force that the project would be terminated. The project was created by US Senator Ted Stevens, when he exercised great control over the US defense budget.

Contesting the differentiated access to housing, social movements occupy empty buildings in the cities to challenge historically-rooted and excluding urban politics. Exploring the occupants' agency, Bea Wittger draws attention to the important role of female actors within the buildings. Through oral histories of participants of two squats in Rio de Janeiro, the book delivers a deep insight "from below" into their own perspectives on citizenship and gender.

Os depoimentos registrados neste livro são o resultado de um projeto de pesquisa desenvolvido pelo Núcleo de Estudos em Linguagens e Humanidades (NEHUL), do IFPB Campus Picuí, entre maio de 2020 e setembro de 2021, no âmbito do Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica – Ensino Médio (PIBIC-EM), do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). O projeto teve como título “A História da Memória – constituição de um acervo de fontes históricas com ex-alunos do Instituto Federal da Paraíba – Campus Picuí, ingressos em 2011” e seu intuito foi o de qualificar a percepção que os ex-alunos do Campus Picuí – dez anos após terem iniciado sua formação acadêmica em nível técnico integrado ao ensino médio ou em nível superior – tinham sobre sua trajetória de vida e de que forma essa trajetória foi impactada a partir da passagem pelo IFPB Campus Picuí. Para isso, a pesquisa buscou elucidar os seguintes pontos: como, a partir de suas origens sociais, as ex-alunas e os ex-alunos do Campus percebiam e avaliavam, em 2021, sua relação com a instituição; como qualificavam a importância da presença de um Campus do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia da Paraíba na região do Seridó-Curimataú; como experimentaram a passagem de uma vivência acadêmica em escolas municipais e estaduais de Ensino Fundamental e Médio para uma vivência em uma instituição federal de Ensino Profissional e Tecnológico; por fim, como as suas vivências discentes no IFPB Campus Picuí afetaram e atravessaram suas trajetórias pessoais e profissionais. - Você também pode baixar o livro no site da Editora IFPB: http://editora.ifpb.edu.br/ifpb/catalog/book/444
