En el mundo de la arquitectura se constata la proliferación de réplicas de edificios históricos desaparecidos (por ejemplo, el Teatro Globe, en Londres), muchos de ellos obras míticas de arquitectos como Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe o Josep Lluís Sert. Clones arquitectónicos dotados de tal fuerza que nos hacen olvidar su verdadera naturaleza de facsímil, suplantando al original desaparecido y borrando el paso del tiempo entre ambos. Las réplicas arquitectónicas a veces son necesarias porque responden a situaciones de emergencia, donde la sociedad reclama la reconstrucción de los monumentos dañados o desaparecidos para restañar las heridas abiertas por la guerra o causadas por desastres naturales o accidentales. Este libro reúne una serie de reflexiones sobre la relación entre arte y arquitectura. Explora las aspiraciones arquitectónicas del arte y las artísticas de la arquitectura. El título del libro, Doble exposición, en inglés Double Exposure, se utiliza aquí en el sentido fotográfico de dos imágenes sobrepuestas, o mejor, dos fotografías en un mismo negativo, una misma emulsión, suspendidas en un único medio. Arquitectónicamente, puede pensarse en el cristal de un gran ventanal panorámico que de noche refleja el interior de la casa y lo sobrepone a una vista del exterior. Este sentido de dislocación en el espectador --el habitante de la casa o el que mira a una fotografía de doble exposición, o quizá incluso el que mira a cualquier obra de arte-- refleja también el de la autora. Doble exposición significa textos sobre arte escritos desde la arquitectura. O, como indica el subtítulo, sobre la arquitectura a través del arte.
