El propósito de este libro es el de comparar los estatutos y constituciones originales de los siete colegios mayores españoles y su evolución a lo largo del tiempo. El libro se completa con una transcripción de la constituciones y estatutos del Colegio de Santa Cruz de Valladolid, cuya última edición impresa es de 1786.
