Nadie sabe a quien se le ocurrió darle a un ciclón de principios del siglo XIX el nefasto nombre de La Tormenta de la Escarcha Salitrosa. Pero más de 200 años después, los pinareños saben a qué ciclón se le dio ese título, por donde pasó y qué estragos hizo. Raúl Eduardo Chao received his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University and, after a brief stint in the industry, he spent 18 years in the academic world as a tenured professor and Director of the Departments of Chemical Engineering at the Universities of Puerto Rico and Detroit. In 1986, he founded a consulting company focused on helping companies and government agencies simultaneously improve the productivity as well as quality of their services. As President of Systema, Chao has written a dozen books on management, science and history of Cuba along with publishing numerous articles in newspapers and magazines. He and his wife Olga live in Lakeland, Florida and spend long periods of time in Paris. Accounts, legends, and traditions of Eternal Cuba. Nostalgic stories of a Free Cuba that no longer exists, and of roads already traveled that we want to visit again through these readings, although we know we cannot go back or hope to return. The thunderous roar of a powerful cannon developed by a Colonel in Antonio Maceo's troops, the regrettable death of the intrepid Chacumbele, and the galloping rescue of a prized Cuban prisoner as he was escorted by a daunting Spanish regiment. In this book the author wants to rescue the history of Cuba and present it to the Cubans of the present and the future. So that they feel the pride of the eternal values of the Cuban nation, so that they meet the men who conquered Independence and created the Republic, so that they know who were the vanguard of the Cuban exile that has created an important footprint in Miami and other cities of United States and Latin America. All this history you will find in the pages of this book. The author was born in Havana, Cuba, were he graduated from the University of Villanueva's School of Law. He holds an LL.M degree in Law from Harvard University. He is a lawyer, essayist, public speaker, history scholar, business executive and militant in the fight for Cuba's freedom.
