Este volume, a partir de cinco artigos, começa por retratar a abordagem nacional na definição de planos para a integração de imigrantes em Portugal (artigo de Cristina Casas) - em implementação desde 2007 e até 2020, horizonte do mais recente plano -; passando para a mais recente abordagem local desenvolvida no país, com a descrição do processo de definição de planos municipais para a integração de imigrantes (artigo de Cláudia Pires). Também com esta perspetiva local, escreve Paulo Manuel Costa acerca da dimensão da participação cívica e política dos imigrantes nos planos locais de integração. O artigo de Valeria Thomas traz-nos, por sua vez, o olhar internacional a partir de uma comparação entre os planos de ação desenvolvidos em Portugal e a experiência neste domínio da Austrália, procurando identificar recomendações e práticas inspiradoras dos dois países. Finalmente, o último artigo publicado (de Rositsa Atanasova) neste volume traz à reflexão a atualidade das migrações e os mecanismos de reação e planeamento face à recolocação de refugiados, posicionando para o caso português a relação dos mecanismos de resposta no quadro da Agenda Europeia para as Migrações com o Plano Estratégico para as Migrações (PEM) em implementação desde 2015.
