Em seu desenrolar, o estudo evoca as interseções entre o Direito e a IA, para que se possa compreender sua natureza jurídica, seu conceito e quais princípios existentes seriam a ela aplicáveis. Enfrentando o problema, busca-se demonstrar que o Direito, enquanto ciência social com função precípua de prevenção e resolução de conflitos, deve emprestar sua normatividade para contornar os amplos problemas trazidos pelo uso da inteligência artificial, gerindo os riscos inerentes a este admirável mundo novo, sem inviabilizar, contudo, o necessário progresso tecnológico e econômico. Para tanto, são apresentados estratégias, planos, princípios deontológicos adotados por vários países, para que se alcance a regulamentação estatal mais adequada. Os modelos norte-americano, europeu e a tentativa brasileira de regulação da IA são objeto de detida reflexão.

Drawing on research from Singapore, the Philippines, Peru, Indonesia, India, the Dominican Republic, Burma, Brazil, Bangladesh, and Argentina, this book explores a range of issues that straddle the line between social deviance and legal crimes in such societies, including extramarital affairs, gender-based violence, gambling, LGBT issues, and corruption. Drawing mainly on British and American examples, this book provides an analytic framework for understanding the 'intelligence community' and assessing its value. The author, a former senior British intelligence officer, describes intelligence activities, the purposes which the system serves, and the causes and effects of its secrecy. He considers 'intelligence failure' and how organisation and management can improve the chances of success. Using parallels with the information society and the current search for efficiency in public administration as a whole, the book explores the issues involved in deciding how much intelligence is needed and discusses the kinds of management necessary. In his conclusions Michael Herman discusses intelligence's national value in the post-Cold War world. He also argues that it has important contributions to make to international security, but that its threat-inducing activities should be kept in check.
