O presente trabalho tem o propósito de identificar e analisar tendências sobre tecnologias de reciclagem de veículos e materiais, abordando principalmente a problemática do resíduo da trituração de veículos em equipamento tipo shredder, bem como a do PVC e do metal pesado, tendo em vista a crescente importância desta área para a atividade empresarial e tecnológica para o desenvolvimento da indústria automobilística brasileira. A partir de metodologias de Prospecção Tecnológica e InteligênciaCompetitiva, foi realizada a análise de patentes e de informações de outras fontes secundárias, para o mapeamento de tecnologias, países e organizações de maior projeção nos desenvolvimentos tecnológicos registrados na forma de patentes sobre a reciclagem do resíduo da shredder e do PVC. Também foram analisadas as percepções de especialistas brasileiros sobre os fatores relacionados à tendência da reciclagem de veículos ocorrer no Brasil, quanto a aspectos como a renovação da frota veicular brasileira, dificuldades a serem superadas e oportunidades que podem ser aproveitadas com a implementaçãode programas brasileiros voltados para a reciclagem de veículos. Os resultados indicam que o desenvolvimento da reciclagem de veículosno Brasil está vinculado à sua viabilização econômica, tendo-se como um exemplo importante a situação dessa área nos Estados Unidos, onde ela está bastante desenvolvida com a transformação de resíduos em outros produtos, independentemente das legislações ambientais vigentes. Quanto à utilização do PVC internamente nos veículos, nas condições atuais de aplicação, aparentemente, não representa problemas à saúdehumana. Porém, como a quantidade de emissões de plastificantes presentes no compartimento interno do veículo é proporcional à quantidade de PVCpresente, parece fundamental o estabelecimento de limites máximos de tolerância para utilização de PVC internamente ao veículo. A principal tecnologia aplicada para a reciclagem do PVC se refere aoreaproveitamento de materiais residuais através de tratamentos mecânicos, processos de polimerização ou despolimerização envolvendo purificação oureciclagem de resíduos de polímeros. Com relação aos metais pesados presentes nos veículos, embora não haja questionamentos quanto à pertinência da proibição, é importante o estudo de alternativas de substituição por materiais ecologicamente adequados, principalmente aqueles apontadas como exceções no Anexo II da Diretiva Européia, por serem técnica ou economicamente inviáveis no momento. Cabe por exemplo o aprofundamento de estudos específicos de substituição de parao Chumbo em elastômeros de condução de fluidos (mangueiras) e para elastômeros de aplicações em motores e transmissão, chumbo em sistemasde ignição, Cr+6 em parafusos que requerem ser facilmente desconectados mesmo após vários anos de uso, etc. O presente trabalho também propõe um modelo de monitoramento das informações relevantes à reciclagem de veículos, para o acompanhamento, interpretação de tendências e antecipação da implementação de eventuaissistemas de reciclagem de veículos no Brasil.
