Un tout jeune couple d'adolescents décide de partir ensemble en Inde. Au cours de plusieurs petits boulots du Nord au Sud de la France, d'une succession de partages dans la vie de tous les jours, ils arrivent à financer leur voyage et partent en Inde pour rentrer dans une toute jeune association humanitaire. Immergés dans les bidonvilles de Dehra Dun, ils apprennent quelques mots en Hindi et se laissent guider par leur instinct et la vie Indienne. En quête de découverte d'un monde nouveau ils se font accepter par les enfants des bidonvilles. Après trois mois dans l'association et malgré leur Amour pour ce peuple touché par une pauvreté et un abandon social indescriptible, Jeanne et Gauthier décident, le coeur gros mais l'espoir plein les poches, de voir d'autres horizons Indiens. Guider par leur instinct et la culture Indienne, ils nous embarquent dans une aventure inoubliable. C'est avec toutes les différences entre deux mondes, l'un occidentale l'autre orientale, la maladie, la barrière de la langue et le choc culturel que l'auteur nous aide à comprendre ce pays. De multiples rencontres enrichissent leur manière d'observer différentes régions, décidément bien plus vastes qu'ils ne le pensaient. Jeanne et Gauthier découvrent les principales villes du Rajasthan puis Bombay, les plages du sud en passant par le Kerala, une remontée vers l'est du pays pour finir par Le Ta) Mahal. A la fin de leur périple nos deux aventuriers reprennent l'avion pour la France. Un peu déphasés, fortement touchés par la réalité. Le coeur à fleur de peau, les yeux remplis de belles images, la conviction d'avoir découvert plus qu'un pays. L'amour et la foi.
