Fisika bukan hanya salah satu mata pelajaran jurusan IPA yang tidak sedikit orang menganggapnya sulit. Namun jika mengenalnya lebih dekat banyak sekali fenomena-fenomena yang sangat dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari kita dengan fisika. Pengertian fisika itu sendiri berasal dari kata “physics” yang artinya yaitu alam. Jadi, ilmu fisika yaitu sebuah ilmu pengetahuan di mana di dalamnya mempelajari tentang sifat dan fenomena alam atau gejala alam dan seluruh interaksi yang terjadi di dalamnya, pembahasan fisika mengkaji tentang zat dan energi seperti panas, bunyi, cahaya dan juga yang terpenting di dalamnya mempelajari benda dan gerakannya serta manfaatnya bagi kehidupan manusia. Etnofisika merupakan hubungan budaya dengan konsep fisika. Salah satu aspek yang prospektif untuk dikaji ialah menghubungkan permainan tradisional dengan fisika, dimana Indonesia kaya sekali jenis-jenis permainan yang sangat erat kaitannya dengan ilmu fisika. Hal ini sesuai dengan hakikat budaya sebagai warisan sosial yang hanya dimiliki warga masyarakat dengan jalan mempelajarinya. Mengingat budaya merupakan pencerminan kehidupan masyarakat berupa kepercayaan terhadap ilmu pengetahuan yang bersifat coba-coba. Buku ini dapat menjadi referensi dalam memahami penerapan konsep fisika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, utamanya dalam permainan tradisional.
