L'implantologie orale n'a cessé d'évoluer. L'apparition de nouveaux systèmes et l'amélioration des traitements de surfaces implantaires nous apportent un vaste catalogue de marques et de modèles d'implants qui laissent un choix laborieux aux praticiens. Les concepts de la médecine moderne suivent l'évolution des progrès sur les biomatériaux et ont pour but d'améliorer la qualité de la prise en charge des patients. À ce jour, les traitements mini-invasifs sont étudiés afin de préserver la vitalité des tissus biologiques et d'améliorer le confort de la cicatrisation post-chirurgicale. Cette thèse porte sur la caractérisation physico-chimique et l'évaluation biologique in vitro de deux différents implants dentaires. Nous avons investigué un implant minimalement invasif nouvellement sur le marché en comparaison avec un implant témoin. Nous avons réalisé, d'une part la caractérisation précise des surfaces implantaires en termes de design, de topographie et de composition chimique et d'autre part, l'effet de ces surfaces sur le comportement biologique de deux types cellulaires représentatives de la sphère orale. La finalité de cette thèse est de prédire la capacité d'ostéo-intégration et le potentiel biologique in vivo des implants étudiés. Tous les aspects abordés lors de la discussion ont été appuyés à l'aide de la littérature scientifique actuelle. D'autres études concernant les propriétés mécaniques des implants minimalement invasifs et l'apport d'analyses en immunohistochimie in vivo permettront de mettre en lumière les propriétés cliniques d'ostéo-intégration de ces implants.

L'endodontie est souvent restreinte à un problème de mise en forme et d'obturation canalaire. Cette discipline est finalement beaucoup plus vaste et son évolution est permanente. Si, depuis une quinzaine d'années, les progrès technologiques ont permis de faire évoluer l'instrumentation (instruments rotatifs en nickel-titane, localisateur d'apex, dispositifs optiques, radiographie numérique, etc.), une nouvelle ère plus biologique a démarré et représentera probablement l'endodontie de demain. Ce traité a pour objectif d'aborder tous les domaines de l'endodontie. Les vingt-trois chapitres abordent tous les sujets qui concernent de près ou de plus loin la discipline et sont organisés en quatre blocs. Le premier traite du tissu pulpaire, sa biologie, sa physiopathologie, et de la prise en charge des urgences d'origine endodontique et de ses complications infectieuses et douloureuses. Dans un deuxième bloc, les phases du traitement endodontique dit "initial" sont abordées étape par étape, de la pose du champ opératoire à l'obturation et la reconstitution corono-radiculaire.
