This is the large print edition of Evers & Afters. An ex-military pilot and a sunshiney barista take opposites attract to the next level. I'm blaming it on the porcupine who broke into Cammi's coffee truck. If that didn't happen, I never would've kissed her. I've spent years ignoring the spark that flares any time I get close to Cammi. I don't do romance, and I don't lose control. Ever. One kiss will never be enough though. Not with Cammi. I can't stay away from her. She's sultry, sassy and a little sweet. In more ways than one. But I'm not the guy for her. I'm cynical and jaded, and I came to Alaska to escape the ghosts of my past. I'm not planning to fall for a girl who's looking for a fairy tale. Except my plans don't seem to matter anymore. Only winning her heart matters.

A swoon-worthy romance from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix! A broody ex-military pilot and a sunshiney barista take opposites attract to the next level. Elias is not the kind of guy who’d fall for me. He’s grumpy, and he’s need-a-fan hot. I totally have a thing for him. My romance radar is broken, and I’m still smarting from my last epic disaster in dating. I’m better off giving up any hope of romance. Except I want it all: happily-ever-after and a family to boot. My stupid biological clock is ticking. Loudly. In a turn of events I did not expect, Elias saves me from a porcupine burglar and kisses me. No one is this small town is as surprised as me. Even more shocking, he wants more. And more. Keywords: Elias & Cammi’s story is perfect for readers who love small town romance and opposites attract stories with grumpy/broody heroes who fall for smart, sassy heroines. *A full-length, standalone romance.

Johnny Evers written by Dennis Snelling and has been published by McFarland this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-22 with Sports & Recreation categories.

For more than a century Johnny Evers has been conjoined with Chicago Cubs teammates Frank Chance and Joe Tinker, thanks to eight lines of verse by a New York columnist. Caricatured as a scrawny, sour man who couldn't hit and who owed his fame to that poem, in truth he was the heartbeat of one of the greatest teams of the 20th century and the fiercest competitor this side of Ty Cobb. Evers was at the center of one of baseball's greatest controversies, a chance event that sealed his stardom and stole a pennant from John McGraw and the New York Giants in 1908. Six years later, following reversals and tragedies that resulted in a nervous breakdown, he made a comeback with the Boston Braves and led that team to the most improbable of championships. Spanning the time from his birth in Troy, New York, to his death less than a year after his election to the Hall of Fame, this is the biography of a man who literally wrote the book about playing second base.

Cold Cases written by Charlotte Greig and has been published by Arcturus Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-01 with True Crime categories.

There's nothing more chilling than an unsolved crime, particularly one involving direct harm to human life; be it murder or rape, these are the crimes whose effects extend furthest and cause most pain to humanity: how much worse when they go unsolved and, as such, unpunished? Such crimes, so-called 'cold cases', are all too common, especially in the big cities where hundreds if not thousands of such incidents remain on file. After the initial furore of questioning suspects and analyzing motives has died down, investigators are often left with no leads, and the uneasy knowledge that a dangerous person is still on the loose, possibly preparing to strike again. But there is hope. With the development of science, and the continuing improvements in detection techniques, the re-examination of old, unsolved crimes is yielding positive results, often decades after the cases originally went 'cold'. This book documents the most fascinating of these cases, and includes: The murdered heiress, Helen Brach Albert Fish, child killer The Green River killer, Gary Leon Ridgway Gerald Parker, the 'Bedroom Basher' The woman in a box The bone breaker, Joe Clark Frank Bender, forensic sculptor Dennis Rader, the 'Bind, Torture, Kill' killer

Winner of the 2014 Lillian Smith Book Award Once in a great while, a photograph captures the essence of an era: Three people—one black and two white—demonstrate for equality at a lunch counter while a horde of cigarette-smoking hotshots pour catsup, sugar, and other condiments on the protesters' heads and down their backs. The image strikes a chord for all who lived through those turbulent times of a changing America. The photograph, which plays a central role in the book's perspectives from frontline participants, caught a moment when the raw virulence of racism crashed against the defiance of visionaries. It now shows up regularly in books, magazines, videos, and museums that endeavor to explain America's largely nonviolent civil rights battles of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Yet for all of the photograph's celebrated qualities, the people in it and the events they inspired have only been sketched in civil rights histories. It is not well known, for instance, that it was this event that sparked to life the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1963. Sadly, this same sit-in and the protest events it inspired led to the assassination of Medgar Evers, who was leading the charge in Jackson for the NAACP. We Shall Not Be Moved puts the Jackson Woolworth's sit-in into historical context. Part multifaceted biography, part well-researched history, this gripping narrative explores the hearts and minds of those participating in this harrowing sit-in experience. It was a demonstration without precedent in Mississippi—one that set the stage for much that would follow in the changing dynamics of the state's racial politics, particularly in its capital city.
