Exogeneity Vs Endogeneity In Section 170 S Quid Pro Quo Test written by Timothy M. Todd and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with categories.

This article advances an exogenous-endogenous distinction for purposes of determining and calculating quid pro quos under section 170. This test holds that exogenous benefits -- benefits that arise independently of, or arise outside of, the taxing authority -- are properly considered quid pro quos (and should reduce the amount deductible); whereas, endogenous benefits -- benefits that arise from or within the specific federal or state taxing authority -- are not quid pro quos and should not be considered in determining the amount deductible under section 170. The exogenous-endogenous distinction advanced by this article comports with the policy and intent of section 170, provides a way to demarcate quid pro quos in a consistent manner (irrespective of donee), and clarifies why section 170 need not consider the federal tax benefit associated with it, but must consider any associate state tax benefit.

Dealing With Endogeneity In Regression Models With Dynamic Coefficients written by Chang-Jin Kim and has been published by Now Publishers Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Business & Economics categories.

The purpose of this monograph is to present a unified econometric framework for dealing with the issues of endogeneity in Markov-switching models and time-varying parameter models, as developed by Kim (2004, 2006, 2009), Kim and Nelson (2006), Kim et al. (2008), and Kim and Kim (2009). While Cogley and Sargent (2002), Primiceri (2005), Sims and Zha (2006), and Sims et al. (2008) consider estimation of simultaneous equations models with stochastic coefficients as a system, we deal with the LIML (limited information maximum likelihood) estimation of a single equation of interest out of a simultaneous equations model. Our main focus is on the two-step estimation procedures based on the control function approach, and we show how the problem of generated regressors can be addressed in second-step regressions.

Handbook Of Market Research written by Christian Homburg and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-12-03 with Business & Economics categories.

In this handbook, internationally renowned scholars outline the current state-of-the-art of quantitative and qualitative market research. They discuss focal approaches to market research and guide students and practitioners in their real-life applications. Aspects covered include topics on data-related issues, methods, and applications. Data-related topics comprise chapters on experimental design, survey research methods, international market research, panel data fusion, and endogeneity. Method-oriented chapters look at a wide variety of data analysis methods relevant for market research, including chapters on regression, structural equation modeling (SEM), conjoint analysis, and text analysis. Application chapters focus on specific topics relevant for market research such as customer satisfaction, customer retention modeling, return on marketing, and return on price promotions. Each chapter is written by an expert in the field. The presentation of the material seeks to improve the intuitive and technical understanding of the methods covered.

Essays On A Discontinuity Test Of Endogeneity written by Maria Carolina Nizarala Martinez Caetano and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with categories.

This dissertation develops a test of endogeneity without the need of instrumental variables. The test ensues from the novel observation that the potentially endogenous variable X is often of a nature such that the distribution of the unobservable Q conditional on X and covariates Z is discontinuous in X at a known value in its range. This relationship arises, for example, when X is subject to corner solutions, default contracts, social norms or law imposed restrictions, and may be argued using both economic theory and empirical evidence. The idea relies in that if X has a continuous effect on the dependent variable Y, any discontinuity of Y that is not accounted by the discontinuities in the covariates Z is evidence that Q and Y are dependent conditional on Z, i.e. it is evidence of the endogeneity of X. The first part of this dissertation develops the test inside of a linear model where X is censored. In this case the test converges under the null hypothesis of the exogeneity of X at the rate 0√n. The part includes the identification of the parameter which will be used as a basis for the test statistics, the construction of the test statistics and derivation of an asymptotic theory of its behavior, and finally a Monte Carlo study where the test is compared to the score test applied to the model, which can be understood as an endogeneity test. The Monte Carlo study uses real data on the effects of maternal smoking in birth weight, and the different versions of the discontinuity test present identical size and power as the score test under the assumptions for the optimality of the latter. When Z is endogenous, the score test as previously defined is no longer optimal, and the discontinuity test performs significantly better, with gains of up to 100% more rejections than the score test for certain levels of correlation. The second part of this dissertation develops a theory of the discontinuity test the endogeneity of X in the structural function f. In this case, X need not be censored, and f need not be linear. The parameter which serves as the basis of the test can be identified non-parametrically, and consists of the aggregation of the discontinuities of the E(Y.

New Exogeneity Tests Causal Paths written by Hrishikesh D. Vinod and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018 with categories.

Statistically dependent X and Y have conditional density f(Y|X) asymmetrically different from unconditional f(Y). Theorem 1 com- pares two flipped kernel regressions to derive necessary conditions for causal path X --> Y and exogeneity meaning that X is self-driven. Hausman-Wu's indirect exogeneity test diagnoses a disease (endogeneity) by showing that instrumental variables (IV) estimator remedy 'works.' Instead, a unanimity index-based test aggregates evidence from four orders of stochastic dominance and new asymmetric partial correlation coefficients to determine the direction and strength of causal and exogenous variables. A simulation supports our decision rules. An illustration identifies exogenous variables which can help predict US economic recession.
