First Published in 1986. In the age of the computer, conjecture about things mechanical has naturally led to the question of whether machines can think. As the emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) has grown rapidly, questions about machine intelligence have begun to have a certain urgency. The question we are concerned with in this book is: If we can find a set of processes that machines can slavishly follow, and if by so doing, these machines can come up with creative thoughts, what would that tell us about human beings? If the machine's procedure was adapted from a human procedure, that is, if all the machine was doing was what we know people are doing, would we abandon our inherent skepticism about the abilities of machines, or would we demystify our inherent admiration for things human? In a sense, these are the issues dealt with in this book. The author says in a sense because this book is no way a philosophical treatise. Rather it is an exercise in Artificial Intelligence and in Cognitive Science, it is an attempt to come to understand one of the most complex problems of mind by examining some of the mechanisms of mind: to define the apparatus that underlies our ability to think.

Definition In Greek Philosophy written by David Charles and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-08-19 with Philosophy categories.
Socrates' greatest philosophical contribution was to have initiated the search for definitions. In Definition in Greek Philosophy his views on definition are examined, together with those of his successors, including Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, Galen, the Sceptics and Plotinus. Although definition was a major pre-occupation for many Greek philosophers, it has rarely been treated as a separate topic in its own right in recent years. This volume, which contains fourteen new essays by leading scholars, aims to reawaken interest in a number of central and relatively unexplored issues concerning definition. These issues are briefly set out in the Introduction, which also seeks to point out scholarly and philosophical questions which merit further study.

Convergence Of Blockchain And Explainable Artificial Intelligence written by Akansha Singh and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-10-30 with Computers categories.
Explainable AI (XAI) is an upcoming research field in the domain of machine learning. This book aims to provide a detailed description of the topics related to XAI and Blockchain. These two technologies can benefit each other, and the research outcomes will benefit society in multiple ways. Existing AI systems make decisions in a black box manner. Explainable AI delineates how an AI system arrived at a particular decision. It inspects the steps and models that are responsible for making a particular decision. It is an upcoming trend that aims at providing explanations to the AI decisions. Blockchain is emerging as an effective technique for XAI. It enables accessibility to digital ledgers amongst the various AI agents. The AI agents collaborate using consensus and decisions are saved on Blocks. These blocks can be traced back but cannot be changed. Thus, the combination of AI with blockchain provides transparency and visibility to all AI decisions. BlockXAI is also being widely used for improving data security and intelligence. The decisions made are consensus based and decentralized leading to highly efficient AI systems. This book also covers topics that present the convergence of Blockchain with explainable AI and will provide researchers, academics, and industry experts with a complete guide to BlockXAI.
