It S A Nonlinear World written by Richard H. Enns and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-10-15 with Mathematics categories.

Drawing examples from mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, economics, medicine, politics, and sports, this book illustrates how nonlinear dynamics plays a vital role in our world. Examples cover a wide range from the spread and possible control of communicable diseases, to the lack of predictability in long-range weather forecasting, to competition between political groups and nations. After an introductory chapter that explores what it means to be nonlinear, the book covers the mathematical concepts such as limit cycles, fractals, chaos, bifurcations, and solitons, that will be applied throughout the book. Numerous computer simulations and exercises allow students to explore topics in greater depth using the Maple computer algebra system. The mathematical level of the text assumes prior exposure to ordinary differential equations and familiarity with the wave and diffusion equations. No prior knowledge of Maple is assumed. The book may be used at the undergraduate or graduate level to prepare science and engineering students for problems in the "real world", or for self-study by practicing scientists and engineers.

The most important characteristic of the “world filled with nonlinearity” is the existence of scale interference: disparate space–time scales interfere with each other. Thus, the effects of unknowable scales invade the world that we can observe directly. This leads to various peculiar phenomena such as chaos, critical phenomena, and complex biological phenomena, among others. Conceptual analysis and phenomenology are the keys to describe and understand phenomena that are subject to scale interference, because precise description of unfamiliar phenomena requires precise concepts and their phenomenological description. The book starts with an illustration of conceptual analysis in terms of chaos and randomness, and goes on to explain renormalization group philosophy as an approach to phenomenology. Then, abduction is outlined as a way to express what we have understood about the world. The book concludes with discussions on how we can approach genuinely complex phenomena, including biological phenomena. The main target of this volume is young people who have just started to appreciate the world seriously. The author also wishes the book to be helpful to those who have been observing the world, but who wish to appreciate it afresh from a different angle.

Optimal Auxiliary Functions Method For Nonlinear Dynamical Systems written by Vasile Marinca and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-14 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents the optimal auxiliary functions method and applies it to various engineering problems and in particular in boundary layer problems. The cornerstone of the presented procedure is the concept of “optimal auxiliary functions” which are needed to obtain accurate results in an efficient way. Unlike other known analytic approaches, this procedure provides us with a simple but rigorous way to control and adjust the convergence of the solutions of nonlinear dynamical systems. The optimal auxiliary functions are depending on some convergence-control parameters whose optimal values are rigorously determined from mathematical point of view. The capital strength of our procedure is its fast convergence, since after only one iteration, we obtain very accurate analytical solutions which are very easy to be verified. Moreover, no simplifying hypothesis or assumptions are made. The book contains a large amount of practical models from various fields of engineering such as classical and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, nonlinear oscillations, electrical machines, and many more. The book is a continuation of our previous books “Nonlinear Dynamical Systems in Engineering. Some Approximate Approaches”, Springer-2011 and “The Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method. Engineering Applications”, Springer-2015.

Elements Of Nonlinear Time Series Analysis And Forecasting written by Jan G. De Gooijer and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-30 with Mathematics categories.

This book provides an overview of the current state-of-the-art of nonlinear time series analysis, richly illustrated with examples, pseudocode algorithms and real-world applications. Avoiding a “theorem-proof” format, it shows concrete applications on a variety of empirical time series. The book can be used in graduate courses in nonlinear time series and at the same time also includes interesting material for more advanced readers. Though it is largely self-contained, readers require an understanding of basic linear time series concepts, Markov chains and Monte Carlo simulation methods. The book covers time-domain and frequency-domain methods for the analysis of both univariate and multivariate (vector) time series. It makes a clear distinction between parametric models on the one hand, and semi- and nonparametric models/methods on the other. This offers the reader the option of concentrating exclusively on one of these nonlinear time series analysis methods. To make the book as user friendly as possible, major supporting concepts and specialized tables are appended at the end of every chapter. In addition, each chapter concludes with a set of key terms and concepts, as well as a summary of the main findings. Lastly, the book offers numerous theoretical and empirical exercises, with answers provided by the author in an extensive solutions manual.

Human Nature written by James Trefil and has been published by Macmillan this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-05-01 with Nature categories.

A radical approach to the environment which argues that by harnessing the power of science for human benefit, we can have a healthier planet As a prizewinning theoretical physicist and an outspoken advocate for scientific literacy, James Trefil has long been the public's guide to a better understanding of the world. In this provocative book, Trefil looks squarely at our environmental future and finds-contrary to popular wisdom-reason to celebrate. For too long, Trefil argues, humans have treated nature as something separate from themselves-pristine wilderness to be saved or material resources to be exploited. What we need instead is a scientific approach to the environment that embraces the human transformation of nature for our benefit. In Human Nature, Trefil exposes the benefits of genetically modified species, uncovers vital facts about droughts and global warming, and points to examples of environmental management where catering to humans reaps greater rewards than sheltering other species. By taking advantage of explosive advances in the sciences, we can fruitfully manage the planet, if we rise to the challenge. Like Rachel Carson's Silent Spring and Paul Ehrlich's Population Bomb, Human Nature promises to fundamentally alter the way we perceive our relationship to the Earth-but with optimism rather than alarm.

Essentials Of Nonlinear Optics written by Y. V. G. S. Murti and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Current literature on Nonlinear Optics varies widely in terms of content, style, and coverage of specific topics, relative emphasis of areas and the depth of treatment. While most of these books are excellent resources for the researchers, there is a strong need for books appropriate for presenting the subject at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels in Universities. The need for such a book to serve as a textbook at the level of the bachelors and masters courses was felt by the authors while teaching courses on nonlinear optics to students of both science and engineering during the past two decades. This book has emerged from an attempt to address the requirement of presenting the subject at college level. A one-semester course covering the essentials can effectively be designed based on this.

Master's Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Sciences Aschaffenburg, language: English, abstract: Do cultural differences affect crucial success factors for change management processes in the cross-cultural work environment, and if so in which way? This thesis provides an insight into the scope of cultural influences on the immediate success or failure of change processes. More precisely, it discusses the cultural influences of China and India on change management processes, using the two success factors communication and participation as examples. This way, awareness is created for cultural differences and impressions of conflicts along the change process due to cultural differences are provided. Already described approximately 2,500 years ago by the Greek philosopher Heraclitus is the constant change of society. Change is not a part of life, rather life consists of constant change, he claimed. His statement is still valid today. Global megatrends influence each individual, the society as such and of course also all kinds of corporations, institutions, and organizations, acting within the society. The influence of global megatrends leads to a shift in economic systems and forces companies to rethink. Adaptability to the ever-changing environment is the key factor for success for enterprises and will become more and more important over the next five to ten years. Megatrends like the digitization and globalization enable or even require oversea business relationships, cooperation with and expansion to different continents. Cross-cultural teams are more common than ever, various employee’s expectations, needs and ways of working collide in an increasingly dynamic and complex work environment. Companies with worldwide operations undergo global change processes, not only local ones. Emerging markets are of particular interest as the global economy and the availability of skilled labour shifts Eastwards. Additionally, a company undergoes several transformative steps which trigger internal change when growing. It can be noted that cross-cultural change processes, are not a one-off occurrence but are increasingly needed in varying degrees of intensity.
