Creative Arts Therapy Careers written by Sally Bailey and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-30 with Performing Arts categories.

Creative Arts Therapy Careers is a collection of essays written by and interviews with registered drama therapists, dance/movement therapists, music therapists, art therapists, poetry therapists, and expressive arts therapists. The book sheds light on the fascinating yet little-known field of the creative arts therapies – psychotherapy approaches which allow clients to use creativity and artistic expression to explore their lives, solve their problems, make meaning, and heal from their traumas. Featuring stories of educators in each of the six fields and at different stages of their career, it outlines the steps one needs to take in order to find training in one of the creative arts therapies and explores the healing aspects of the arts, where creative arts therapists work, who they work with, and how they use the arts in therapy. Contributors to this book provide a wealth of practical information, including ways to find opportunities to work with at-risk populations in order to gain experience with the arts as healing tools; choosing the right graduate school for further study; the difference between registration, certification, and licensure; and the differences between a career in a medical, mental health, educational, correctional, or service institution. This book illuminates creative arts therapy career possibilities for undergraduate and graduate students studying acting, directing, playwriting, creative writing, visual arts, theatre design, dance, and music. It is also an excellent resource for instructors offering a course to prepare arts students of all kinds for the professional world.

I did not excel in high school and was not at the top of my class academically. My school counselor made suggestions of the classes I should enroll in based on my performance in previous classes. The problem with that calculation, however, was that the curriculum I was enrolled in, was not designed for creative thinkers. It was a logic based program where every body was enrolled in their first years in math, science, english, history, social studies.... you know the drill. And the students that excelled in math and science, went on to be considered really good students and praised for all of their hard work. But, if you were a creative thinker, unless you were fortunate enough to attend a School For Creative Arts, your experience may not have been the same. You may have spent alot of time asleep in class. Or, you may have been disinterested in the subjects that weren't Art. Music, Literature, Graphic Design, Dance, Theater...etc. Unfortunately, those early challenges in school; trying to determine why you always felt like you did not fit in, may have left you feeling inadequate or a bit like a failure. If this is/was your experience, you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you! In fact, the world would not be able to make innovative, forward thinking progress without you. Creatives are inventors, innovators, and see the world as a sea of things they can change and improve...inherently, this is how Creatives view everything. Creative Career Insight takes a deep dive into what makes Creative thinkers tick. Which types of jobs excite them. Why Creative thinkers make such great Entrepreneurs. And, how just by owning your creative nature you can find your dream career. Creative Career Insight will explore how to price your artistic skills or products, and what a career in artistic expression can bring in yearly. We will explore how repackaging and repositioning yourself can increase your bottom line. Don't accept crumbs just so you can do what you love. Make yourself the authority and demand the appropriate price! Set expectations early and don't apologize for asking for what you deserve. Logical thinkers get paid for following directions well, you need to get paid for defining the direction.
