Develop cost-effective, long-term solutions to your network traffic control problems. Even if you can find the money to do it, overengineering your network will not solve your traffic flow problems. As the authors of this groundbreaking guide clearly demonstrate, the best long-term solution to network congestion and bottlenecks can be found in a set of Quality of Service (QoS) architectures, policies, and technologies known as differentiated Classes of Service (CoS). Quality of Service is a valuable working resource for technical managers charged with solving the problem of how to handle the exploding volume of traffic on their companies' networks. The authors explore the roots of the current network traffic control crisis and they provide a realistic assessment of the gamut of standard, new, and emerging QoS/CoS technologies. They consider all crucial, design, cost, and support issues surrounding quality of service deployment for all types of networks, including intranets and multimedia networks. And they provide managers with a rational framework for finding the most cost-effective QoS/CoS solutions to their organizations' long-term networking goals. Key technical issues covered include: * Queuing disciplines, traffic shaping, and admission control techniques * Quality and differentiation hooks found in TCP/IP * Getting the most out of Frame Relay and ATM technologies * QoS/CoS techniques for dial-up services * Integrated Services Architecture and RSVP. Networks On Chips written by Fayez Gebali and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The implementation of networks-on-chip (NoC) technology in VLSI integration presents a variety of unique challenges. To deal with specific design solutions and research hurdles related to intra-chip data exchange, engineers are challenged to invoke a wide range of disciplines and specializations while maintaining a focused approach. Leading Researchers Present Cutting-Edge Designs Tools Networks-on-Chips: Theory and Practice facilitates this process, detailing the NoC paradigm and its benefits in separating IP design and functionality from chip communication requirements and interfacing. It starts with an analysis of 3-D NoC architectures and progresses to a discussion of NoC resource allocation, processor traffic modeling, and formal verification, with an examination of protocols at different layers of abstraction. An exploration of design methodologies, CAD tool development, and system testing, as well as communication protocol, the text highlights important emerging research issues, such as Resource Allocation for Quality of Service (QoS) on-chip communication Testing, verification, and network design methodologies Architectures for interconnection, real-time monitoring, and security requirements Networks-on-Chip Protocols Presents a flexible MPSoC platform to easily implement multimedia applications and evaluate future video encoding standards This useful guide tackles power and energy issues in NoC-based designs, addressing the power constraints that currently limit the embedding of more processing elements on a single chip. It covers traffic modeling and discusses the details of traffic generators. Using unique case studies and examples, it covers theoretical and practical issues, guiding readers through every phase of system design.

Integrating Internet Qos Protocols With Atm Uni Signaling written by Ming Yang and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Asynchronous transfer mode categories.

Abstract: "A number of inter-network protocols are developed based on the current Internet to support real-time multicast applications. At the same time, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is designed to be the network solution for heterogeneous services with diversified traffic characteristics and performance requirements. Given the active deployment of ATM in wide-area and local-area networks, the ability to inter-operate between the inter-network protocols and ATM User Network Interface (UNI) is becoming essential to provide end-to-end quality of service (QoS) guarantees. We explored the issues in integrating reservation and service models between Tenet Suite 2 (Suite 2), Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) and ATM UNI signaling. We experimented with ATM multicast signaling prototyping using Vendor Independent Network Control Entity (VINCE). We also simulated/implemented a subset of the mapping between Suite 2 and UNI signaling. This report describes the design and implementation of the mapping, as well as the lessons we have learned."

This book serves as a reference for researchers and designers in Embedded Systems who need to explore design alternatives. It provides a design space exploration methodology for the analysis of system characteristics and the selection of the most appropriate architectural solution to satisfy requirements in terms of performance, power consumption, number of required resources, etc. Coverage focuses on the design of complex multimedia applications, where the choice of the optimal design alternative in terms of application/architecture pair is too complex to be pursued through a full search comparison, especially because of the multi-objective nature of the designer’s goal, the simulation time required and the number of parameters of the multi-core architecture to be optimized concurrently.

The complete resource for understanding and deploying IP quality of service for Cisco networks Learn to deliver and deploy IP QoS and MPLS-based traffic engineering by understanding: QoS fundamentals and the need for IP QoS The Differentiated Services QoS architecture and its enabling QoS functionality The Integrated Services QoS model and its enabling QoS functions ATM, Frame Relay, and IEEE 802.1p/802.1Q QoS technologies and how they work with IP QoS MPLS and MPLS VPN QoS and how they work with IP QoS MPLS traffic engineering Routing policies, general IP QoS functions, and other miscellaneous QoS information Quality-of-service (QoS) technologies provide networks with greater reliability in delivering applications, as well as control over access, delay, loss, content quality, and bandwidth. IP QoS functions are crucial in today's scalable IP networks. These networks are designed to deliver reliable and differentiated Internet services by enabling network operators to control network resources and use. Network planners, designers, and engineers need a thorough understanding of QoS concepts and features to enable their networks to run at maximum efficiency and to deliver the new generation of time-critical multimedia and voice applications. "IP Quality of Service" serves as an essential resource and design guide for anyone planning to deploy QoS services in Cisco networks. Author Srinivas Vegesna provides complete coverage of Cisco IP QoS features and functions, including case studies and configuration examples. The emphasis is on real-world application-going beyond conceptual explanations to teach actual deployment. "IP Quality of Service" is written for internetworking professionals who are responsible for designing and maintaining IP services for corporate intranets and for service provider network infrastructures. If you are a network engineer, architect, manager, planner, or operator who has a rudimentary knowledge of QoS technologies, this book will provide you with practical insights on what you need to consider when designing and implementing various degrees of QoS in the network. Because incorporating some measure of QoS is an integral part of any network design process, "IP Quality of Service" applies to all IP networks-corporate intranets, service provider networks, and the Internet.
