By focusing on the features of their gaze behaviors, the book describes the interpreters' processing behaviors and categorizes them into different processing styles. Advances In Cognitive Translation Studies written by Ricardo Muñoz Martín and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-18 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This book presents the latest theoretical and empirical advances in cognitive translation studies. It involves the modes of written translation, interpreting, sight translation, and computer-aided translation. In separate chapters, this book proposes a new analytical framework for studying keylogged translation processes, a framework that reconciles a sociological and a psychological approach for studying expertise in translation, and a pedagogical model of translation competence. It expands the investigation of cognitive processes by considering the role of emotional factors, reviews, and develops the effort models of interpreting as a didactic construct. The empirical studies in this book revolve around cognitive load and effort; they explore the influences of text factors (e.g., metaphors, complex lexical items, directionality) while taking into account translator factors and evaluate the user experience of computer-aided translation tools.

Cognitive Processing Routes In Consecutive Interpreting written by Xiaodong Liu and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-13 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This book addresses a controversial issue regarding SL-TL transfer in the translation process, namely the question as to the dominant route in English-Chinese and Chinese-English professional consecutive interpretations, respectively: the form-based processing route or meaning-based processing route. It presents a corpus-assisted product study, in which the interpreting processing patterns of culture-specific items (CSIs) are analyzed. The study reveals that the dominant route in English vs. Chinese consecutive interpreting varies under different circumstances. Four factors are proposed to account for such differences: linguistic variables (e.g., grammatical complexity of the unit), type of CSI, language direction, and extra-linguistic variables (e.g., multilateral or bilateral settings). In summary, the book systematically introduces a corpus-assisted approach to translation process research, which will benefit all readers who are interested in translation process research but cannot employ neuroscientific measures.

The Australian Institute for Interpreters and Translators runs biennial conferences on topics relevant to the fields. This volume collects presentations from its conference in December 2012. The conference was given the title of “Jubilation” to celebrate 25 years of the Institute’s existence. The papers in this collection are organised around three broad themes: (a) “Innovative Practices and Pedagogies in T and I Training”; (b) “Interpreting in the Community: International Experiences”; (c) “Translation: Challenges, Opportunities and Needs”. The papers are consistent with the long-standing flavour of AUSIT conferences, which combine the practical with the theoretical, reflect practice in Australia and around the world, and provide insights into important questions facing all elements of the profession.
