Englishwoman Felicia Gordon should be floating on air. After all, she's engaged to a man who is kind, charming, considerate.... But he doesn't inspire the least amount of passion in her blood. It isn't until Felicia flies to Kuwait to meet her fiancé's family that she finds the electricity she's been missing—in her fiancé's uncle, Sheikh Raschid al Hamid al Sabah! All the King's Falcons draws out Rumi's distinctive and creative insights into Islamic religious culture by focusing on his treatment of prophets as instruments in God's communication with humankind. But there is more to Rumi's views of revelation than meets the eye, for he does not view the prophets, from Adam to Muhammad, merely as historic individuals who lived and died. Stories and images of the prophets provide this mystic and poet with a way of communicating his rich awareness of the reality of the divine message.

Falcons are stunning and iconic birds. Australia has six falcon species, with two endemic to the continent and two others endemic to the Australasian region. They are important indicators of the health of our ecosystems, due to their position at the top of the food chain. But several species are declining, with two species threatened in some states. In Australian Falcons: Ecology, Behaviour and Conservation, Dr Stephen Debus provides a 30-year update of knowledge on these six species, as well as a falcon-like hawk, the Black-shouldered Kite. This book is based partly on the author’s field studies, as well as being a supplement to the Handbook of Australian, New Zealand and Antarctic Birds (HANZAB) and recent global treatises. It offers up-to-date information on the Australian species, including their behaviours, ecology and biology. It reviews their population status and threats, and suggests what needs to be done to ensure the future of these spectacular birds. Australian Falcons is an invaluable resource for raptor biologists, birdwatchers, wildlife rescuers and carers, raptor rehabilitators and zookeepers.

Computing systems including hardware, software, communication, and networks are becoming increasingly large and heterogeneous. In short, they have become - creasingly complex. Such complexity is getting even more critical with the ubiquitous permeation of embedded devices and other pervasive systems. To cope with the growing and ubiquitous complexity, autonomic computing (AC) focuses on self-manageable computing and communication systems that exhibit self-awareness, self-configuration, self-optimization, self-healing, self-protection and other self-* properties to the maximum extent possible without human intervention or guidance. Organic computing (OC) additionally addresses adaptability, robustness, and c- trolled emergence as well as nature-inspired concepts for self-organization. Any autonomic or organic system must be trustworthy to avoid the risk of losing control and retain confidence that the system will not fail. Trust and/or distrust relationships in the Internet and in pervasive infrastructures are key factors to enable dynamic interaction and cooperation of various users, systems, and services. Trusted/ trustworthy computing (TC) aims at making computing and communication systems––as well as services––available, predictable, traceable, controllable, asse- able, sustainable, dependable, persistent, security/privacy protectable, etc. A series of grand challenges exists to achieve practical autonomic or organic s- tems with truly trustworthy services. Started in 2005, ATC conferences have been held at Nagasaki (Japan), Vienna (Austria), Three Gorges (China), Hong Kong (China), Oslo (Norway) and Brisbane (Australia). The 2010 proceedings contain the papers presented at the 7th International Conference on Autonomic and Trusted Computing (ATC 2010), held in Xi’an, China, October 26–29, 2010.

The war between the Brother Realms reaches its bloody climax as the Falcon kings race to secure allies and vie for dominance of the Northwest. As the Black Falcon's army pushes deeper into Fieran territory, Kelyn must learn to bear the weight of the War Commander's helm. Victory-and the lives of thousands-depend on his word alone. While he presses against the relentless tide of his enemies, he harbors a dark secret, one that may spell of the destruction of his family. Wounds of the flesh matter little when a man must battle his conscience and his own desires to reclaim his honor. Deep within Avidan Wood, Lothiar remembers a time when his people roamed free. Chafing inside the prison that his people call a refuge, he dreams of a new era, in which the Mother's First Children rise again to dominate the breadth of Dwinovia. In his loathing for the Sons of Ilswythe, he unleashes an ancient terror. But tampering with the forces of the Abyss brings about disastrous consequences he does not foresee. Meanwhile, Kieryn is torn between the woman he loves and his pursuit of the forces seething inside him. The secrets he is sworn to protect drive a wedge between him and his betrothed, and Rhoslyn turns to another. Shattered by betrayal and pursued by a soul-thirsty shadow, Kieryn must harness the fires of his rage and forge a new identity. One that will earn him a song in legend-or infamy as a madman. "With her eye for historical detail and flair for sympathetic heroines, Francesca Stanfill breathes new life into the medieval court of Eleanor of Aquitaine. The Falcon’s Eyes is a novel of epic proportions that succeeds in being both intimate and vast. History is Stanfill’s canvas, humanity her inspiration."—Amanda Foreman, bestselling author of Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire “Stanfill has persuasively re-imagined the Middle Ages, surrounding the legendary Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine with indelible characters in an immersive tale of intrigue, bravery, ruthlessness, and compassion. . . . The Falcon’s Eyes is a dazzling adventure, with riveting twists and turns and a surprising yet deeply satisfying conclusion."—Sally Bedell Smith, author of Elizabeth the Queen Set in France and England at the end of the twelfth century, the moving story of a spirited, questing young woman, Isabelle, who defies convention to forge a remarkable life, one profoundly influenced by the fabled queen she idolizes and comes to know – Eleanor of Aquitaine Willful and outspoken, sixteen-year-old Isabelle yearns to escape her stifling life in provincial twelfth century France. The bane of her mother’s existence, she admires the notorious queen most in her circle abhor: Eleanor of Aquitaine. Isabelle’s arranged marriage to Gerard --- a rich, charismatic lord obsessed with falcons --- seems, at first, to fulfill her longing for adventure. But as Gerard’s controlling nature, and his consuming desire for a male heir, become more apparent, Isabelle, in the spirit of her royal heroine, makes bold, often perilous, decisions which will forever affect her fate. A suspenseful, sweeping tale about marriage, freedom, identity, and motherhood, THE FALCON’S EYES brings alive not only a brilliant century and the legendary queen who dominated it, but also the vivid band of complex characters whom the heroine encounters on her journey to selfhood: noblewomen, nuns, servants, falconers, and courtiers. The various settings — Château Ravinour, Fontevraud Abbey, and Queen Eleanor’s exiled court in England — are depicted as memorably as those who inhabit them. The story pulses forward as Isabelle confronts one challenge, one danger, after another, until it hurtles to its final, enthralling, page. With the historical understanding of Hillary Mantel and the storytelling gifts of Ken Follett, Francesca Stanfill has created an unforgettable character who, while firmly rooted in her era, is also a woman for all times.
