Information on the structure of the sea breeze obtained by previous observational and theoretical studies has been employed to develop a kinematic model of the three -dimensional wind field associated with the sea breeze. Existing information on the structure of the stabilized fallout cloud has been used in the numerical computation of the deposition of radioactive particles through a specified sea-breeze circulation. A program was developed for the numerical computation of fallout transport through an analytically prescribed three-dimensional sea-breeze circulation and for the computation of its ground deposition pattern. The computer program was utilized to illustrate the fallout deposition patterns obtainable from simple models of the stabilized cloud through alternative models of three-dimensional sea -breeze wind fields. Both the time of arrival of fallout and the final accumulation of radioactive matter depend strongly on the time of detonation with respect to the times of onset and decay of the sea breeze and also on the duration of the fallout as compared with the life-span of the circulation. Calculations for particle fall speeds four times as large as the maximum updraft speed, performed for the same circulation, suggest departures of the order of only 10 percent of the final accumulation and of changes the order of 10 min in the arrival time. However, the location of maxima and minima in the fallout pattern are more closely related to the horizontal extent of the circulation and the position of its center at the time at which the fallout reaches its upper boundary.
