El presente estudio se ocupa de los galicismos que son susceptibles de convertirse en “falsos amigos”; es decir, de los vocablos españoles de origen francés contrastado que, siendo formalmente semejantes a sus equivalentes franceses, presentan divergencias en cuanto al significado y causan, por lo tanto, interferencias al emplear unos u otros.El trabajo va precedido de un análisis de carácter teórico que justifica la validez de la propuesta lexicográfica. En él se analizan las distintas interpretaciones que han conocido los conceptos de ‘galicismos’ y ‘falsos amigos’, se elabora el “estado de la cuestión” y se proporciona un esbozo de tipología que sirve de punto de partida para la clasificación posterior.El estudio culmina en una propuesta lexicográfica que constituye un auténtico Diccionario de Galicismos y Falsos Amigos por pares de palabras. Para la elaboración de este, se estableció un corpus de galicismos a partir del Diccionario de la Lengua Española (DLE). Una vez constituido el corpus de galicismos, se cotejaron con sus étimos franceses, entresacados del Petit Robert de la Langue Française.Este cotejo pormenorizado permitió, en una segunda fase, la clasificación de los galicismos seleccionados –según la relación de identidad o de disparidad que establezcan con sus equivalentes franceses– en:–“Falsos amigos totales”: aquellos pares de palabras que no comparten ninguna acepción.–“Falsos amigos parciales”: aquellos pares de palabras que comparten una o varias acepciones, pero no todas. Además, para una mejor comprensión del fenómeno, se han creado tres subcategorías dentro de esta, según la dirección en que opera la interferencia.Cada una de estas cuatro categorías cuenta con las secciones de convergencia o divergencia, según los casos. Finalmente se incluye una sección de Observaciones, destinada a las explicaciones históricas y contrastivas que se han considerado pertinentes; se han tenido en cuenta para ello las aportaciones de los diccionarios históricos más importantes, tanto franceses como españoles, así como lexicografía enciclopédica y especializada.El Diccionario puede ser de gran utilidad tanto para el aprendizaje de la lengua francesa por hispanohablantes como de la española por francófonos, así como para los traductores en uno u otro sentido.
