Gollac s’est aperçue que les partages prennent en compte non seulement le capital matériel — ici, une boulangerie mais aussi le capital symbolique — la possibilité ou non de faire des études des différents enfants. Quant à F. Weber, elle décrit la succession d’une vieille dame sans enfants à Barcelone qui, profitant des particularités du droit catalan, a privilégié ses “affinités affectives” au détriment du droit du “sang”. T. Barthelemy et P. Ténoudji nous entraînent dans des époques ou lieux plus lointains qui ont cependant un point commun : pour les châtelains bretons des 18e et 19e siècles comme pour les Napolitains d’aujourd’hui, c’est à la famille, et non à l’État, qu’il revient de payer pour l’éducation des enfants.

In 1921 David Ross McCord (1844-1930) founded the McCord Museum of Canadian History, which first opened in the Jessie Joseph House of McGill University. McCord's ancestors had come from Ireland to settle in Canada after the Seven Years War.
