Quixotic Memories written by Julia Dominguez and has been published by University of Toronto Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-03-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

The work of Miguel de Cervantes – one of the most influential writers in early modern Europe – is a reflection of the rich culture of memory in which it was created. More than a theme, memory is a system of understanding in Cervantes’s world, resulting from the major social, religious, and economic changes that epitomized Renaissance humanist culture and that informed the transition to modernity. Quixotic Memories offers insight into the plurality and complexity of memory and demonstrates how it plays an exceptionally critical role in Cervantes’s Don Quixote. It acknowledges Cervantes’s transition into modernity as he engaged with theories of memory that were developed in classical antiquity and adapted to the specific circumstances of his own time. Julia Domínguez explores the many spaces that memory created for itself in early modern Spain, particularly in the fields of philosophy, medicine, rhetoric, mnemotechnics, the visual arts, and pedagogy. Engaging with primary and archival sources, Quixotic Memories provides a new reading of Cervantes’s famous novel by tracing the socio-historical and cultural prominence of memory throughout the author’s lifetime.

Leading scholars and early-career researchers bring to bear hermeneutics from studies of religion and literary criticism alongside more traditional philological and historical methodologies. All the studies in this book bring to their particular tasks an acknowledgement of the importance of religion in the worldview of antiquity and the Middle Ages. Their approaches reflect a critical turn in Celtic studies that has proved immensely productive across the last two decades.

“Reject him! Submit to me! Be my mate, and I'll put an end to this war immediately," he commanded, his words resonating and enveloping the room in electrifying uncertainty. Caught off guard by this abrupt ultimatum, I found myself rendered speechless. The gravity of the situation silenced me, robbing me of the words I so desperately needed to speak. Vulnerability gripped me as I struggled to find my voice, my heart pounding viciously within my chest. “I cannot unless we sign the Treaty to ensure the security of our pack.” I stated. "Okay. The Treaty will be signed only if you reject him now." Quelling the turmoil within me, I summoned the strength to utter the words that would alter the course of my life. “I, Evelyn Green, the Beta's daughter from the MoonCrest Pack, hereby reject my fated mate, Gregory Blackwood, the future Alpha of the MoonCrest Pack. Instead, I submit to Alpha Adrian Lucius as my mate." Evelyn had eagerly anticipated her eighteenth birthday to shift for the first time and claim her fated mate, her beloved Gregory, the son of the Alpha and Luna of the MoonCrest Pack. He was scheduled to return from Alpha training that late afteroon. However, fate took an unexpected turn when MoonCrest was suddenly attacked by the rival Knightsmoor pack. Faced with the choice of accepting a contracted bond with an evil alpha to become his chosen mate or witnessing the annihilation of her pack before her eyes, Evelyn had no option but to accept Alpha Adrian as her chosen mate. What would you do when love demands the sacrifice of love itself? (Book 1 in the series. Book 2 is ready soon!)
