Essay from the year 2011 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 82%, University of Westminster, course: BA Global Marketing , language: English, abstract: Through my three years of marketing studies, I have come to understand that marketing planning never has been the simple step-by-step approach described so enthusiastically in most prescriptive texts and courses. According to MacDonald, M (2004), the moment an organisation embarks on the marketing planning path, it can expect to encounter a number of complex organisational, attitudinal, process and cognitive problems, which are likely to block progress. In order to identify those processes and problems this paper went through an investigation of the various stages when writing a marketing plan. It also made an attempt to provide new and fresh insights for the consideration of thinking marketing plans in today’s Global environment. It made use of marketing theories and models taken from textbooks and online resources, but also practical example to further explain five main factors, in order: the consideration involved in deciding the marketing objectives, the marketing audit, principal decisions to be made when preparing a marketing plan, the main criteria for the successful implementation of the marketing plan, and the pros and cons of standardizing the marketing management process.

In economic downturns, the marketing budget is often the first to get slashed. Why? Because many CEOs believe that marketing is unable to deliver results where it counts: the bottom line. Nirmalya Kumar argues that marketing's future depends on altering its function and mindset to address the burning questions CEOs care about most. Kumar, who counsels top executives at multinational corporations, challenges marketers to change their role from tactical implementers of traditional marketing functions-;like advertising and promotion-;to strategic coordinators of organization-wide, transformational initiatives aimed at profitably delivering value to customers. Kumar outlines seven strategy-focused, cross-functional, and bottom-line oriented initiatives that can put marketing back on the CEO's agenda-;and elevate its role in shaping the destiny of the firm.

The paper firstly illustrated the influence of consumer healthy eating habits on global quick-service restaurant chains through various academic resources in the literature review. Subsequently, the author has conducted a multiple case study approach with two companies that are either currently or used to be operating business globally to raise the validity and reliability of the research. Furthermore, the innovative marketing strategies for global fast food restaurant chains will be focusing on introducing and customizing healthy meals on menus, maintaining customer and employee relationships simultaneously, participating in sustainability and CSR programs as well as promoting through digital marketing.
