Aunque teoricamente todos los sistemas teologicos del cristianismo fueron elaborados a partir de la Biblia, la verdad es que, en muchos casos, tales sistemas pronto adquirieron una autoridad propia que impuso con rigidez sus conclusiones a la labor exegetica. Esto ha sido especialmente cierto en el caso de la mujer. Asi, a lo largo de los siglos se han presentado como axiomaticas algunas proposiciones que limitaban de forma considerable el liderazgo de la mujer en la iglesia. En este libro la autora propone someter a examen estas interpretaciones que, por cenirse a ciertas tradiciones teologicas, han sobredimensionado algunos textos que aparentemente limitaban el papel de la mujer, han ignorado otros que ponian en tela de juicio la exegesis tradicional, y han dejado en el olvido o minimizado aquellos que hacian referencia al liderazgo espiritual desempenado por muchas mujeres. Lo cierto es que la Biblia tambien esta escrita en femenino y en plural, aunque una lectura androcentrica, hecha desde el prisma de la cultura grecolatina, lo haya ocultado durante siglos.
