Un état des connaissance sur la situation des femmes en France aujourd'hui La seconde moitié du XXe siècle a été porteuse, dans l'ensemble des pays développés et tout particulièrement en France, de transformations sociales majeures pour les femmes : liberté de l'avortement et de la contraception, droit de vote et parité, croissance spectaculaire de la scolarité et de l'activité professionnelle. Ces mutations ont-elles, pour autant, fondamentalement entamé la domination masculine ? Aucune réponse simple n'est possible. Nous vivons une époque de paradoxes et de contradictions : plus de femmes instruites, actives, salariées, mais aussi plus de chômeuses, de salariées précaires ou pauvres ; les lois sur l'égalité professionnelle se sont multipliées, mais la résorption des disparités de carrières et de salaires stagne, péniblement. Les femmes ont – tardivement – conquis le droit de vote, mais en dépit des lois sur la parité, bien peu sont élues. Le droit à la contraception et à l'avortement est une conquête évidente, mais que penser de la persistance, longtemps ignorée, des violences faites aux femmes et du harcèlement sexuel ? Les formes familiales se sont diversifiées, les relations de couple se sont transformées, mais le monopole féminin sur le travail domestique demeure, stable et imperturbable. Cet ouvrage collectif met à la disposition du grand public un état des lieux des connaissances accumulées dans différents domaines : le corps, la famille, le marché du travail, la politique. Il rassemble des points de vue divers, émanant de chercheurs et d'universitaires de différentes disciplines. Un point fondamental les réunit : la conviction que la différence des sexes est un outil indispensable à la compréhension du monde social.
