El festival de Matemáticas es un evento de participación masiva para estudiantes de 6° y 7° grado, que tienen especial interés por las matemáticas. Este evento incluye diversas actividades entre las cuales se realiza una olimpiada de matemáticas, conferencias para estudiantes y padres, juegos matemáticos, entre otras. Este festival se lleva a cabo cada año en Moscú desde 1990, en las instalaciones de la Universidad Estatal de Moscú - M. V. Lomonósov. Y desde 1994 se celebra en el marco de las Olimpiadas de Matemáticas de Moscú.En este libro de trabajo se incluyen todas las olimpiadas realizadas durante los años 2011-2020 y está especialmente dirigido a escolares del 5° al 8° grado, con el propósito que todo estudiante interesado ya sea en prepararse para una competencia o en simplemente practicar problemas entretenidos para mejorar sus habilidades matemáticas, pueda desafiarse en resolver estos problemas interesantes; o podría servirle incluso en la realización de simulacros de esta competencia, intentando resolver el estudiante la mayor cantidad de problemas de cada examen en un tiempo máximo de 2 horas. Asimismo, puede resultar útil también para profesores, padres y círculos de estudio en matemáticas. El libro ha sido elaborado cuidadosamente de modo que se pueda trabajar cada uno de los problemas en el mismo libro, sin necesidad de recurrir a hojas adicionales. Lo que le permitirá al estudiante tener un registro ordenado de los problemas ya resueltos. Cada examen de cada grado incluye un conjunto de 6 problemas de diferentes temas de matemática escolar. Generalmente los 2 primeros problemas suelen ser los más accesibles, aunque no siempre es así. Para poder afrontar con éxito estos problemas no se requiere mayor conocimiento que el que se cubre en el currículo escolar; sin embargo, muchos de estos problemas requieren de un enfoque ingenioso para ser abordados exitosamente. Solo en casos muy particulares, algunos problemas requerirán algún conocimiento especial para ser resueltos. Se anima a los estudiantes que no cesen de intentar resolver cada problema como un desafío personal, las veces que sean necesarias. Una vez que obtenga una respuesta puede verificarla con las respuestas que se brindan al final del libro.
