The instructional book PLAYING TO DRAW is based on a series of games-exercises with which children of 3-6 years can learn while having fun, gaining new and more complex painting and manipulation knowledge and skills. The structure of the play-activities offered to children is based on a detailed educational tour, which respects and to develop specific needs and abilities typical of childhood. What for an adult may be perceived as an easy and banal exercise, for a child can appear a difficult task to achieve since the ability to concentrate and function capabilities of children are still little developed for both intensity, duration, and complexity of mental strategies adopted. Also, in general, children live in their own fantasy-symbolic world which characterizes the everyday experiences. So, it is important that each child can have the necessary time and motivation to realize the proposed activities and internalize them in his own mental world. The game-exercises of PLAYING TO DRAW develop the following concepts and topics: 1. DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHIC EXPRESSION SKILLS 2. ACQUISITION OF SPATIAL ORIENTATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHIC AND PRE-WRITING COMPETENCIES 3. DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHIC EXPRESSION COMPETENCIES 4. DEVELOPMENT OF LOGICAL-SPATIAL COMPETENCIES AND IDENTIFICATION OF GEOMETRIC SHAPES 5. DEVELOPMENT LOGICAL-PERCEPTIVE COMPETENCIES THROUGH BY GRAPHIC-EXPRESSIVE ACTIVITIES

The Figures Of Edgar Allan Poe written by Gero Guttzeit and has been published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-08 with Literary Criticism categories.

The Figures of Edgar Allan Poe is the first study to address the rhetorical dimensions of Poe’s textual and discursive practices. It argues that Poe is a figure and figurer of the emergence of the modern understanding of literature in the early nineteenth century that resulted from the birth of the romantic author and the so-called ‘death of rhetoric’. Building on accounts of Poe as a skilled navigator of American antebellum print culture, Gero Guttzeit reinterprets Poe as representative of the vital role that transatlantic rhetoric played in antebellum literature. He investigates rhetorical figures of the author in Poe’s critical writings, tales, poems, and lectures to give a new account of Poe’s significance for antebellum literary culture. In so doing, he also proposes a general rhetorical theory of theoretical, poetical, and performative figures of the author. Beyond Poe studies, the book intervenes in current debates on the romantic origins of the modern author and demonstrates that rhetorical theory offers new ways of exploring authorship beyond the nineteenth century.

Biblical Figures In The Islamic Faith written by Stephen J. Vicchio and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-07-01 with Religion categories.

"Vicchio believes that by understanding how much Muslim tradition overlaps with the biblical traditions of Judaism and Christianity, we might begin to expose a wedge of common ground on which understanding and respect might begin to be built. "Vicchio begins with a brief introduction sketching some fundamentals of Muslim history and culture, and clearing away some common misconceptions. His main goal, however, is to give us a detailed look at the treatment of biblical figures in the literature of Islam. The broad range of his research and presentation is startling. He begins with the Qur'an but continues on to the collected writing of the roughly two hundred years after Mohammed (Hadith, Sunnah, Akhbar) that came to be regarded as authoritative in the various traditions that developed in early Islam. He then traces the interest in these biblical figures on into modern treatments of the role of these figures in Muslim scholarship and how these figures are understood and used in the traditions of Islam yet today. "The result of Vicchio's scholarship and presentation will be a revelation to most Christian and Jewish readers. It has become somewhat commonplace to refer to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as the three Abrahamic faiths. This shows a beginning awareness of the beginnings of each of these three great religions, birthed in the Middle East, in a common ancestor, Abraham (Ibrahim). Abraham's faithfulness and his closeness to God make his a revered figure in each of these three great faiths, and for each Abraham is a beginning of the story of the particular relationship between God and the people of each of these religions." --from the Foreword

Figures Of Thought written by David Reed and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-09-02 with Philosophy categories.

Rarely has the history or philosophy of mathematics been written about by mathematicians, and the analysis of mathematical texts themselves has been an area almost entirely unexplored. Figures of Thought looks at ways in which mathematical works can be read as texts, examines their textual strategies and demonstrates that such readings provide a rich source of philosophical issues regarding mathematics: issues which traditional approaches to the history and philosophy of mathematics have neglected. David Reed, a professional mathematician himself, offers the first sustained and critical attempt to find a consistent argument or narrative thread in mathematical texts. In doing so he develops new and fascinating interpretations of mathematicians' work throughout history, from an in-depth analysis of Euclid's Elements, to the mathematics of Descartes and right up to the work of contemporary mathematicians such as Grothendeick. He also traces the implications of this approach to the understanding of the history and development of mathematics.
