Der vorliegende Konferenzband gliedert sich in zwei Teile: die Tagungsdokumentation und weiterführende Transferbeiträge. Die Tagungsdokumentation enthält die Vorträge der Expertinnen und Experten aus den Neurowissenschaften, die am 8.12.2017 bei FoE 2017 an der Freien Universität Berlin gehalten wurden. An die Vorträge schließen sich relevante Passagen der Transferdiskussion an. Vortragsschwerpunkte waren Embodied Cognition, das Schreiben von Hand oder mit Tastatur, Sprache und Musik sowie Kognition und Mehrsprachigkeit. Im zweiten Teil des Bandes finden sich Transferbeiträge, die von Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern der Tagung als Weiterführung des Transferanliegens ausgearbeitet wurden. Die Verfasserinnen und Verfasser reflektieren als Expertinnen und Experten für den Sprachunterricht aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven das bei FoE 2017 Referierte, wobei auch die Auseinandersetzung mit konkreten Fragen aus der Praxis Berücksichtigung findet. Der Transfer führt somit sowohl in die Fremdsprachendidaktik als Wissenschaft als auch in die Praxis des Lehrens und Lernens von Sprachen. Die Transferbeiträge setzen u. a. folgende thematische Schwerpunkte: Embodied Cognition, Wortschatzerwerb und Vokabellernen, die Verbindung zwischen Sprachenlernen und Musik, Aussprache sowie den Forschungsstand zu Musik und Emotionen. Zwei Transferbeiträge nehmen schließlich eine forschungsmethodische Perspektive ein.
