Social Youth Entrepreneurship written by Melvin Delgado and has been published by Praeger this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-05-30 with Business & Economics categories.

Youth policies in the United States-especially for economically and socially disadvantaged children-are often characterized as fragmented, inadequate, antiquated, misguided, and, at worst, negligent or even harmful. The primary systems mandated to serve youth often coexist as if in parallel universes, often at odds with each other regarding goals, priorities, and resources. To address these deep-seated problems and propose a dynamic alternative, Delgado applies extensive field research and insights from economics, urban studies, social work, and psychology, to introduce a new paradigm, social youth entrepreneurship. This approach to youth and community development integrates education, work experience, and counseling to create economic opportunities and prepare today's youth for tomorrow's challenges. A popular dictum states that our children are our future. Nevertheless, youth policies in the United States-especially for economically and socially disadvantaged children-are often characterized as fragmented, inadequate, antiquated, misguided, and, at worst, negligent or even harmful. The primary systems mandated to serve youth often coexist as if in parallel universes, often at odds with each other regarding goals, priorities, and resources. To address these deep-seated problems and propose a dynamic alternative, Delgado applies insights from a variety of fields, including economics, urban studies, social work, and psychology, to introduce a new paradigm, social youth entrepreneurship. Drawing from extensive field research, and showcasing the experiences of several innovative programs, including Food from the Hood in Los Angeles and Young Aspirations/Young Artists in New Orleans, Delgado outlines an approach to youth and community development that integrates education, work experience, and counseling. The positive results include motivating young people to sharpen their analytical and interpersonal skills, inspiring them to contribute to their communities, and preparing them to become productive members of the workforce. Meanwhile, Delgado offers practical recommendations for educators, community leaders, local businesses, and policymakers alike to support such programs.

The Young Entrepreneur S Edge written by Jennifer Kushell and has been published by The Princeton Review this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Business & Economics categories.

It seems like these days, whenever you look at a newsstand, at least one major business magazine has a cover story about a wildly successful entrepreneur in his or her 20s or 30s. That's not surprising when one considers that one out of every five small-business owners in America is under 35, and that more young people are starting businesses than ever before. Right now, in college dorm rooms and their parents' garages, the next generation of Sam Waltons, Bill Gateses, and Michael Dells are hard at work. "If you are ever going to take risks in exploring your career options, this is the absolute best time to do it," says 26-year-old entrepreneurial expert Jennifer Kushell. "Why wait until you have a semi-stable corporate job and major financial obligations to discover that you hate your career and need to make a big change?" Kushell is the ideal mentor for young people thinking about taking the plunge. Her very successful Young Entrepreneurs Network educates teens and twentysomethings in 40 countries about forming their own companies. A born entrepreneur -- her father and aunt are leading experts on franchising and trademark licensing, respectively -- Kushell presided over her own company's growth while attending college full-time. Her book draws on her invaluable hands-on experience: "It's not so much a how-to-start-a-business book as it is a how-to-cope-with-life-while-starting-and-succeeding-in-your-own-business book," the author says. "All I can say is that this is the real deal, the real story." With wit, candor and exuberance for her subject, Kushell gives practical and personal insight from a young entrepreneur's point of view to help new business owners get through their first few years. The book "also teaches you tricks of the trade that you can rely on to compete successfully in a business world with people twice your age and companies God-knows-how-many-times-as big," she adds. The Young Entrepreneur's Edge addresses key topics such as trying to obtain capital and writing a business plan, which, the author says, are among the biggest obstacles for young entrepreneurs. But the book also tackles critical areas that other business books rarely address: how to get older people to take you seriously; how not to starve when you're broke; how to win your family's approval; how to get out and meet important people; how not to get carded when entertaining clients; and other unique situations faced by young business people. Praise for The Young Entrepreneur's Edge "Fresh college graduates frustrated by the job search should pick up a copy of [this book]." --"Los Angeles Times" "Can help both job-seekers and job-holders rethink their idea of gainful employment." --"Mademoiselle" "Entertaining, fast-reading, and immensely sensible. Kushell is a human dynamo." --"Sacramento Bee" "Every young entrepreneur needs good ideas, and this book is full of them." --Fred Deluca, founder and president of Subway(R) Restaurants "It is a must-read for my students." --Kathleen R. Allen, Ph.D., The Entrepreneur Program, University of Southern California

An entrepreneurial education and work culture brings changes in the relation between the public sector's organizations and its interested parties. More precisely, it is a question of changing managerial and organizational education practices towards self-direction, innovativeness, flexibility and responsibility. Understanding how public sector's organizations operate in an entrepreneurial manner is also helpful for supporting growth within the business community. This article aims at presenting a framework on young people's possibilities of becoming successful entrepreneurs within the public sector's organizations, showing a literature review that concentrates on the entrepreneurship subject, with focus on youth and the public sector's field. The results are the research made by using studies on this subject, thus leading to a proper use of entrepreneurial means, knowledge and start-up activities that allow an evolved education, self-responsibility and autonomy. We will see that the entrepreneurship concept has been expanded and a strong tendency is in favor of placing entrepreneurship in the center of attention, being regarded as natural in more contexts than the economic one. The wide understanding aims at developing abilities - power of initiative, energy, creativity, cooperation and responsibility, whereas the narrow understanding is more aimed at students obtaining business and self-engaging knowledge regarding personal growth activities.

The aim of this book is to justify the importance of economic knowledge for every human being in a country with an economic system based on the market mechanism, and to explain and debunk the myths and stereotypes related to economic education and its effectiveness, particularly among young people. The book offers a comparative analysis of the economic education of young people in Poland and throughout the world. It examines the historical emergence of economies and economic thinking and decision-making as well as the different philosophies and educational systems in the EU and the USA. It thoroughly investigates the economic knowledge of Polish youth via an annual study, which the authors have conducted since 2012. The book outlines both the formal and informal methods of economic education, from education programs in general secondary schools and economic technical schools, as well as in vocational schools, and also examines school Business Incubators. It concludes with a summary, reviewing the implementation of research goals and issues and outlining directions for future research. The authors break down complex topics and provide readers of this book with a base knowledge of economics at the micro and macro levels. The book will serve as a useful and practical guide for students and researchers, as well as policymakers concerned with rethinking the education system. Additionally, it will be a helpful resource for those wanting to acquire the knowledge needed to conduct a business, as the authors maintain that entrepreneurship can be learned.

"Youth in Action is the European Union programme for all young people aged 15 to 28 (or in some cases 13 to 30). It enables more than 150000 young people and youth workers every year to exercise non-formal learning mobility across the EU and in 140 countries beyond by getting involved in educational activities outside schools. With a budget of EUR 885 million for the period 2007-13, the programme helps young people to develop skills and fosters their active participation in society. It promotes in particular the inclusion of young people facing obstacles in their lives. To achieve its objectives, the programme funds a wide variety of activities through five actions. The activities include exchanges, initiatives, democracy projects and a voluntary service. It also supports youth workers and youth organisations through training and networking, and promotes European cooperation in the youth field."--Editor.
