El presente libro aborda dos problemas que han sido y son muy debatidos en el ámbito de la lengua española. En el primero de ellos, «Español soy, estoy, doy, voy. Un intento de explicación morfológica», se trata el tan discutido origen de la desinencia -y que se encuentra en la primera persona singular de los cuatro verbos españoles. En el segundo, «La sintaxis de donde + sintagma nominal en español», se trata la también discutida clasificación gramatical del adverbio relativo donde seguido de sintagma nominal. Entendemos la teoría gramatical aquí desarrollada como una teoría natural en el sentido que se le ha dado en varios estudios de tradición fonológica y morfológica. Según esta concepción el lenguaje es un Reflejo de las necesidades, capacidades y el mundo de sus usuarios, más que una simple institución convencional. Teoría natural también en el Sentido que pretende explicar su objeto, mostrar que deriva naturalmente de la naturaleza de las cosas; no es una teoría convencional en el Sentido que no pretende describir su objeto exhaustiva y exclusivamente. Desde esta perspectiva, por tanto, damos importancia en nuestra Interpretación del lenguaje a la capacidad de análisis del hablante.
