For The Sake Of The Gospel written by Edward Schillebeeckx and has been published by SCM Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1989 with Sermons, Dutch categories.

Edward Schillebeeckx describes his new book like this: It is difficult, especially for a theologian, to separate faith, theology, and proclamation. But you can discover what theologians really think from their sermons. However, sermons are not like articles. You are asked to give a sermon by a Christian community on a particular day of the year, and it is related to the readings of the Sunday in question. The text of the sermon comes into being by interaction with the community that is there to hear it. That is very different from a theological article, in which you yourself choose both the text and context. This book contains two series of homilies, one on Jesus' life and message and one on problems with God experienced by Christians, along with some meditations and articles to make it into a coherent whole. The title points forward towards the third volume of my christological trilogy, the Dutch text of which will, I hope, be ready in the middle of 1989. Some of the more recent sermons reflect my preoccupations in that book. It will be evident that preaching and theology belong closer together. As do prayer and politics.

For The Sake Of The Gospel written by Desmond Ford and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Nearly thirty years ago the Seventh-day Adventist church defrocked Dr. Desmond Ford for publicly challenging the denomination's prophetic views. At the same time and on the same basis, many other ministers also lost their positions. Ford had been a top Adventist scholar, who had taught ministerial students and future teachers in Adventism's tertiary institutions in Australia and the U.S. What led him to speak out, and is the debate still current today? What were the issues, and who were the parties involved? Why was it important then? Why does it matter now? This book answers all these questions and shows that the key to prophetic interpretation is Christ and his gospel-not humanly devised calculations hidden in musty history books. Christ clearly teaches it is not for us to know the times and seasons, yet official Adventism continues to teach prophetic timelines that are based on faulty premises. The Adventist teaching of the Investigative Judgment, which supposedly began in 1844, mutes the New Testament gospel, and most Adventist scholars know this. It is time for official Adventism to renounce their errors and become fully Christian in their doctrinal teachings.

Be The Message written by Kerry Shook and has been published by WaterBrook this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-09-09 with Religion categories.

Maybe you’re troubled by the disconnect between the words you speak and the life you live. Maybe you’d like to see your faith become more active and life-changing in the world around you. Pastor Kerry and Chris Shook felt that way. Even though their calling involved preaching and teaching, they became weary of sermons and words. They felt a gap between what they were saying and the needs of people around them. They decided to do something about it. Be the Message is their story of waking up to the gospel—not just a gospel of words and sermons, but the gospel of intention and action and people. They discovered a profound secret: You Are the Gospel As they explored the deeper truths of scripture, the verse “the word of God lives in you” came alive. Digging deeper, they discovered that the gospel message is really about life message—your life lived out. God’s call to you is simple: Be the Message Be the Message opens up a new world of understanding about what God calls you to. As the Shooks learned, the gospel is not about what you say. It’s about who you are and what you do—and how you can be God’s hands and feet in the world. What would happen if we talked about God less and walked with God more? Be the Message reminds us that Christianity was meant to be a faith of action, not a faith of words. Yet often we sacrifice doing something for the sake of talking about it. When we actually act out on our faith, we find our faith grows even more. You can do more than nothing. People’s lives are changed when you allow your life to be the gospel to the world. Living out the gospel in the world today is both simple and costly. The Shooks explore that paradox through biblical stories and their own experience of making a decision to live out the gospel in practical ways. Choosing to be the gospel changed their family, church and personal relationships with God. How can it change your life?

How To Listen To A Sermon written by Donald L. Berry and has been published by University Press of America this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-12-02 with Bibles categories.

After exploring several aspects of the craft of homily, How to Listen to a Sermon explains how listening to a sermon is different from attending to other forms of public address. This view presupposes a distinctive understanding of the sermonic or preaching event and this is illustrated by two homiletical assemblies —- for 'ordinary time' and for 'extraordinary times.' These sermons exemplify the author's concern that public religious speech be done with care and with scholarly attention to biblical texts. These anthologies are framed autobiographically with 'Honoring the Gospel' at the beginning, and with 'Living an Epiphany' at the end.

Following Christ written by Charles H. Spurgeon and has been published by Aneko Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-01 with Religion categories.

Whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your slave. – Matthew 20:27 You cannot have Christ if you will not serve Him. If you take Christ, you must take Him in all His qualities. You must not simply take Him as a Friend, but you must also take Him as your Master. If you are to become His disciple, you must also become His servant. God-forbid that anyone fights against that truth. It is certainly one of our greatest delights on earth to serve our Lord, and this is to be our joyful vocation even in heaven itself: His servants shall serve Him: and they shall see His face (Revelation 22:3-4). Charles H. Spurgeon originally wrote this book for members of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Spurgeon's heartfelt writing style makes this book one that today still encourages believers to move into Christian action. He emphasizes simply moving forward, using the talents and resources you already have at your disposal, for the Lord's service and your own eternal reward. The concepts presented are easy to understand and straight-forward, if only you are ready to lay down your life to follow Christ. Table of Contents Ch. 1: The Necessity of Following Christ Ch. 2: How to Go Ch. 3: The Help of the Holy Spirit Ch. 4: Only Christ Ch. 5: Great Faith and Great Works Ch. 6: Being Faithful with the Talents He Already Gave Us Ch. 7: The Joy of the Lord's Harvest Ch. 8: The Body Works Together Ch. 9: Merely a Servant Ch. 10: With God Nothing is Impossible Ch. 11: We Must Bear Fruit Ch. 12: Solely for His Glory Ch. 13: Fire and A Hammer Ch. 14: Beware of Foxes Ch. 15: Good Things Take Time Ch. 16: The Urgency of Today Ch. 17: Open Your Mouth Ch. 18: God's Limitless Providence Ch. 19: Our Meager Loaves in Christ’s Hands Original Title: We Endeavor
