One world's richest and best-known people in his day, Henry Ford was the founder of Ford Motor Company and a pioneering innovator of mass production. Ford's autobiography, My Life and Work, gives personal insight into the life of this prolific inventor and titan of industry. For the time, Ford awarded high wages to his workers despite his driving commitment towards reducing costs, which he did instead through the channels of business and technological innovation. Ford's vision held consumerism as a cornerstone of global peace and prosperity. In spite of not believing in accountants, Ford amassed an enormous wealth, most of which he left to the Ford Foundation.

Henry Ford Henry Ford once announced to a young schoolboy that it was he who had invented the modern age. Born on a farm in rural Michigan three weeks after the battle of Gettysburg, Ford hated everything about farming as soon as he could understand what it was about. So he turned his attention to the farm machinery that made the family farm run, and never looked back. It was his love of machines, then engines, and finally automobiles that Henry Ford is best known for. He designed and manufactured cars which would transform not just his family's little farm, and not just the city of Detroit. The automobile would change the world; ushering in a whole new way of living one's life. A modern life, to be sure. Beneath this diligent tycoon, lay a man of many contradictions. He worked hard to give the average American an affordable car and believed that mass consumerism was the key to keeping the world safe from war. Yet he opposed labor unions, supposedly sired a son with another woman, and was an enthusiastic anti-Semite. Inside you will read about... ✓ Henry Ford's Early Years ✓ Ford's Love for Engines ✓ The Ford Motor Company and the Model T ✓ Disdain of Labor Unions ✓ The Anti-Semite Problem ✓ Later Years and Death And much more! Follow along as you come to know Henry Ford, the man responsible for putting America and the world behind the wheels of their own cars. Was this man a genius or a dominator? Did he want those around him to live free lives with the things he invented or was he only satisfied when people read his newspaper and obeyed his advice? Read on, and form your own conclusion.

Henry Ford invented lean manufacturing in 1909 and spent the next 20 years developing it. Lean manufacturing allowed Ford to produce the most successful car of all time, the Model T. More importantly, it allowed him to continuously reduce the price of the car from over $900 in 1908 to under $300 20 years later. This book fully describes his methods and philosophy. Ford shows that the concepts apply not only to cars but shows how he applied them equally well to apply to a hospital, school and a railroad. It is a terrible indictment of American industry that this book, never out of print in Japan, has been out of print in English. Most Americans think we have borrowed the whole idea of lean manufacturing from the Japanese and to some degree they are right. However, few people realize that the famed Toyota Production System (TPS) derives directly from this book. I have read over 100 books on lean manufacturing and related topics over the years. This book is so far beyond anything else that is available, I felt it had to be republished. John Henry CPP

Glenn Ford—star of such now-classic films as Gilda, Blackboard Jungle, The Big Heat, 3:10 to Yuma, and The Rounders—had rugged good looks, a long and successful career, and a glamorous Hollywood life. Yet the man who could be accessible and charming on screen retreated to a deeply private world he created behind closed doors. Glenn Ford: A Life chronicles the volatile life, relationships, and career of the renowned actor, beginning with his move from Canada to California and his initial discovery of theater. It follows Ford’s career in diverse media—from film to television to radio—and shows how Ford shifted effortlessly between genres, playing major roles in dramas, noir, westerns, and romances. This biography by Glenn Ford’s son, Peter Ford, offers an intimate view of a star’s private and public life. Included are exclusive interviews with family, friends, and professional associates, and snippets from the Ford family collection of diaries, letters, audiotapes, unpublished interviews, and rare candid photos. This biography tells a cautionary tale of Glenn Ford’s relentless infidelities and long, slow fade-out, but it also embraces his talent-driven career. The result is an authentic Hollywood story that isn’t afraid to reveal the truth. My Life and Work is the autobiography of Henry Ford; a businessman who revolutionized automotive manufacture in the early 20th century. This book takes us through the major episodes of Ford's life, from his early beginnings and the development of his successful commercial endeavors. Ford's ideas on achieving the greatest efficiency during the process of automobile creation remain influential today. Namely in what is now called the 'Just in Time' method of production; wherein a complex product is manufactured with each part made ready at the precise moment of assembly. Released in 1922, the autobiography was penned partly in response to the groundswell of public attention lavished upon one of the most visible technological advances to appear at the time. The famous Model T car in just a decade went from obscure gadget to worldwide symbol of the motor vehicle revolution, spearheaded by the Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford was particularly celebrated for his policies on staff which formed a major break with the traditional procedures of the industrial revolution. He paid good wages, guaranteed his workers healthcare, and assured them of a pension - things seldom seen on any large scale before. The motivations of Ford are detailed in this autobiography; they would later inspire employment legislation responsible for creating much of the modern middle class in the USA.

Henry Ford was an American captain of industry and a business magnate, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and the sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique of mass production. Although Ford did not invent the automobile or the assembly line, he developed and manufactured the first automobile that many middle-class Americans could afford. In doing so, Ford converted the automobile from an expensive curiosity into a practical conveyance that would profoundly impact the landscape of the 20th century.
