In 1832 the Koerners moved to Indiana, where Susan had the run of her father's workshop and learned to use tools at an early age. A very well-educated woman for her time and place, she met Milton Wright at Harts ville College, a church school where she was a student and he was a young minister supervising instruction in the preparatory department.
