Det som från början var en lös hypotes skulle förvandlas till en mycket spännande upptäcktsfärd. En märklig omständighet är att trots att Jesus gav upphov till en av världens största religioner, och att han i högsta grad levde i historisk tid och i ett geografiskt område som då var ockuperat av ett av världshistoriens mäktigaste imperier, romarriket, så har man haft mycket svårt att återfinna honom i historiska källor. Slutsatsen har därför ofta varit att Jesus aldrig existerat. Men vad Einhorn upptäcker under resans gång är att en medveten tidsförskjutning tycks ha ägt rum vid skrivandet av Nya testamentet. Och när man uppdagar den nyckeln, när man justerar denna förskjutning, så framträder plötsligt berättelsen om Jesus från Nasaret i historikernas skrifter! Det är inte exakt samma berättelse - och i åtminstone ett avseende leder den till förbluffande slutsatser - men den är så pass lik att det är svårt att tro att det inte handlar om samma person.
