El presente libro rescata del olvido la historia del banco más importante de la Valencia de finales del siglo XV, que mantuvo relaciones financieras con las grandes ciudades europeas y con empresas como el banco de los Medici. El estudio se organiza en dos épocas, articuladas en tres capítulos: 1) la instalación en Valencia del padre, Martí Ruiz, a principios de siglo (1417), una época en que la capital ejercía su influencia sobre un extenso territorio peninsular; 2) la internacionalización y reconversión empresarial del negocio familiar durante la dirección de los «hereus d’en Martí Roís», sus tres hijos varones, que llegaron a disfrutar de la condición aristocrática, y 3) el hundimiento, con la huida (1487) y la persecución inquisitorial, como resultado de su condición conversa, que permitió al Patrimonio Regio apropiarse de una parte significativa de sus activos financieros y su patrimonio.

L’odi religiós, que ha protagonitzat massa vegades la història de la civilització, ha marcat la història dels jueus, com és sabut, amb reiterades friccions amb els poders fàctics. Els discursos inflamats d’odi amb què s’alimentaren les masses populars no ajudaren gaire a l’estabilitat social i els assalts massius a les jueries forçaren els jueus a convertir-se al cristianisme. L’arribada dels inquisidors tornà a posar el focus sobre els conversos i s’encarregaren, tràgicament, d’evitar-ne la integració. Conversos valencians i Inquisició se centra en judicis dels anys 1481-1521 contra valencians en els quals, a banda del desenvolupament dels processos, s’hi observen traces que ens introdueixen en el dia a dia de les famílies. S’hi detecten mostres de religiositat, però també d’amor, d’amistat, de por... I, també, de ràbia i de traïcions. A través de la documentació, comprovem que molts d’aquells conversos valencians treballaven, amaven, odiaven, s’insultaven i s’estimaven en valencià; en la llengua, en definitiva, que els era pròpia.

La Revista de la Inquisición. Intolerancia y derechos humanos, número 28, correspondiente al año 2024, es el resultado de la colaboración entre la Agencia Estatal Boletín Oficial del Estado y el Instituto de Historia de la Intolerancia El Instituto de Historia de la Intolerancia es un Instituto universitario fundado en 1984, que por Convenio de 21 de abril de 2007 quedó integrado en la Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación de España. Tiene como objetivo el estudio y enseñanza de la problemática de los fenómenos antiguos y modernos de intolerancia, promoviendo con ello, en el mundo de hoy, el respeto a la libertad de conciencia, los derechos humanos, el pluralismo en la convivencia democrática y la concordia civil. Entre esas manifestaciones históricas de la intolerancia, el Instituto dedica preferente atención a estudiar la historia de la Inquisición en Europa y América. Como manifestación del pensamiento y línea de actuación del Instituto surgió la Revista de la Inquisición. Intolerancia y derechos humanos, como una publicación científica especializada que, desde 1991, aparece ininterrumpidamente todos los años, en un único volumen. La revista se estructura en dos secciones y una miscelánea. La primera sección dedicada al estudio del Santo Oficio en España e Indias en su devenir histórico en el Antiguo Régimen, la segunda trata el análisis de los fenómenos de intolerancia en nuestra sociedad actual: discriminación por género u orientación sexual, esclavitud y trata de seres humanos, entre otros. En Miscelánea se encuadran escritos de diversa índole relacionados con la temática de la revista. La Generalitat, el nom que actualment designa les institucions de l’autogovern valencià, recupera el d’una institució nascuda en la segona meitat del segle XIV i perfilada en la seua naturalesa, composició i funcions el 1418, fa més de 600 anys. El present volum recull les comunicacions presentades a la sessió dedicada a la història de la institució. The study of Florentine-Hungarian economic relations in the first half of the fifteenth century provides a challenging opportunity to survey late medieval social and economic strategies and their adjustment to a specific regional situation. Florentine merchants were actively present with their trading and banking activity in medieval Europe whereas medieval Hungary played a notable role in the political and economic landscape of East-Central Europe during the reign of King Sigismund of Luxemburg (1387-1437).Based on a prosopographic database the study investigates these businessmen's economic and social background in Florence via in-depth case studies and quantitative research. Concentrating further on the community of foreign traders in Buda as a royal seat in formation, the study reviews also the competition between South German and Florentine traders.An appendix includes the complete prosopographic database compiled for this research, being a collective biography of Florentine merchants and investors working in Hungary in the first half of the fifteenth century.
