Forty one moons scattered across the sky! Is there any lesser light than what the sun may have to offer? Say each moon is a little brighter; a little fairer than the other! Will you see the horizon the same again? Through and through each moon are the childhood dreams ripening with the each moon's brightening gleam! All those hard-to-live-with sorrows suddenly douched by one long night of overflowing light. This goes to those, a little like myself (till the nightscapes almost suddenly changed), who have always associated the darkness of the night with the sorrows that dawn upon them. Here the night is all about peace, ignited passions and tranquil silence. There may not be any therapeutic element that would help one to rediscover his own essence, but yes one thing that one will discover here, is how the glow of forty one moons can make the night brighter than a day that so pleases the commonplace. Each creation as tedious, deep and heartfelt as a drift to the moon on a lonesome night; as profound as the wonderful smile of the moon; each a little brighter than the other and still brighter together to brighten the fact that it is not what seems is sad, it is only what is meant of it. Like verses that either remain stacked in some lonesome corner dark and dank with ignorance, or flourish as moons to brighten all nights thereafter. Happy thoughts travel through the saddest paths. Thus, to know your own joys it is mandatory to realize your own sorrows. But to make the best out of the bitter, sour and sweet, one should evolve with the gradient of human emotions, at every step reinventing his own expressions. 'I'-- the most common and ordinary person I know- have tried to reinvent (or vent) my emotions here, in a way that each seems independent of the other. It is a mix of emotions and their expressions. I have realized (whether I mention or not) a volley of emotions through my expression and the entire time I have spent in understanding the intricate relationship between emotion and expression. The puzzle till date remains unsolved but all those things that I have felt and realized in due course, is here! All for my patient reader to realize and interpret in his own unique way! ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Sandip Mitra was born in Shillong in 1985. Since childhood he got the perfect ambience at home to nourish his brilliant sense of poetic excellence. Moon written by Bernd Brunner and has been published by Yale University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-11-18 with Science categories.

Using werewolves and Wernher von Braun, Stonehenge and the sex lives of sea corals, aboriginal myths, and an Anglican bishop in this new book, the author weaves variegated information into a glimpse of Earth's closest celestial neighbor, whose mere presence inspires us to wonder what might be out there. Going beyond the discoveries of contemporary science, he presents a cultural assessment of our complex relationship with Earth's lifeless, rocky satellite. As well as offering an engaging perspective on such age old questions as "What would Earth be like without the moon?" he surveys the moon's mythical and religious significance and provokes existential soul searching through a lunar lens, inquiring, "Forty years ago, the first man put his footprint on the moon. Will we continue to use it as the screen onto which we cast our hopes and fears?" Drawing on materials from different cultures and epochs, he walks readers down a moonlit path illuminated by more than seventy-five vintage photographs and illustrations. From scientific discussions of the moon's origins and its chronobiological effects on the mating and feeding habits of animals to an illuminating interpretation of Bishop Francis Godwin's 1638 novel The Man in the Moone, his interdisciplinary explorations recast a familiar object in an original light.

Hailed as "a literary fantasist of outstanding power and originality" by Michael Moorcock and "a mythmaking Gothic queen" by Neil Gaiman, Storm Constantine is one of the most exciting and innovative fantasy writers of her generation. The author of many acclaimed works of science fiction and fantasy, she is best known for her daring, stylish and provocative "Wraeththu" trilogy (The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit , The Bewitchments of Love and Hate, The Fulfilments of Fate and Desire). The series, which chronicled the rise of a new race of seductive androgynous beings, with awesome powers, was hailed as a modern fantasy masterpiece, winning an avid international following of devoted readers. In her current series of work, Constantine has returned to the world of the Wraeththu, and the history of the first ruling dynasty in Immanion. Shades of Time and Memory continues the story of the emotional struggle between the triad of Pellaz, the Tigron of all the Wraeththu; Caeru, the Tigrina chosen for him by Thiede, and hostling of Pellaz's heir; and Calanthe, the Tigrina of Pellaz' heart -- Cal who incepted Pellaz, murdered Thiede, and whose wild seductive nature captivates all who know him. But while these three struggle for mortal political power, others are discovering that the psychic abilities of the Wraeththu and their sisters, the Kamagrian, are far greater, and far stranger, than any of them had ever supposed. In this study a social and cultural anthropologist and a specialist in the study of religion pool their talents to examine recent changes in popular religion in Sri Lanka. As the Sinhalas themselves perceive it, Buddhism proper has always shared the religious arena with a spirit religion. While Buddhism concerns salvation, the spirit religion focuses on worldly welfare. Buddhism Transformed describes and analyzes the changes that have profoundly altered the character of Sinhala religion in both areas.

The first interstellar starship, John Glenn, fled a Solar System populated by rogue AIs and machine/human hybrids, threatened by too much nanotechnology, and rife with political dangers. The John Glenn's crew intended to terraform the nearly pristine planet Ymir, in hopes of creating a utopian society that would limit intelligent technology. But by some miscalculation they have landed in another solar system and must shape the gas giant planet Harlequin's moon, Selene, into a new, temporary home. Their only hope of ever reaching Ymir is to rebuild their store of antimatter by terraforming the moon. Gabriel, the head terraformer, must lead this nearly impossible task, with all the wrong materials: the wrong ships and tools, and too few resources. His primary tools are the uneducated and nearly-illiterate children of the original colonists, born and bred to build Harlequin's moon into an antimatter factory. Rachel Vanowen is one of these children. Basically a slave girl, she must do whatever the terraforming Council tells her. She knows that Council monitors her actions from a circling vessel above Selene's atmosphere, and is responsible for everything Rachel and her people know, as well as all the skills, food, and knowledge they have ever received. With no concept of the future and a life defined with duty, how will the children of Selene ever survive once the Council is through terraforming and have abandoned Selene for its ultimate goal of Ymir?
