Whether it is the spellbinding power of night or the reawakening of flowers after bloody battle, poet Say Say paints vivid pictures in this collection written over what feels like several lifetimes. The poems are short and simple. Each one is a call to get out, escape. Each poem inspires something difficult to understand but necessary to pursue. These are missiles fired at the cage called poverty and the wicked wind of injustice. Words are simultaneously touching and moving, impactful on the reader as these elegant, insightful poems invoke things lost and seek things yet to be found.

College was a difficult time for me. Between the ideas of free love and drug experimentation, I felt lost and confused most of the time. I started writing down thoughts and feelings to help me cope with emotions that I could not or did not totally understand. In the beginning I only numbered my thoughts, but as time passed I started naming my works after the people who touched me in some way or by an event that was shared with someone special. My original writings started in 1973 when I was at the University of Central Arkansas and continued until I was in my forties. Since that time I have kept a journal that has become more of a source of comfort to me than my poetry. I hope that you find comfort, solace, joy, or pleasure from reading my memories.

I Don T Text While Driving Walking Or Standing Still written by Roger Dale Loring and has been published by Lulu.com this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-27 with Humor categories.

Roger Dale Loring is a genuine baby boomer who finds his existence in the rapidly-changing world rather perplexing. In his latest book, he once again offers a collection of lighthearted essays about his dilemmas from the perspective of his current "if-they-don't-have-a-senior-discount, I'm-not-going-there" age. Realizing that the aging process evolved in a way that his adolescent mind never envisioned, Loring now finds that his views on life changes are disturbingly similar to the views of the old people of his youth, people he frequently characterized as old fogies. His essays highlight his humorous take on life that include opinions about issues such as cell phone upgrades; a man's attention span while operating a television remote; seasonal purse shopping; the differing conversation patterns of men and women; the three hardest part-time jobs in America; the crazy world of politics where preaching to the choir dominates all campaigns; and, of course, the trauma of buying toothpaste.

Reading The Fascicles Of Emily Dickinson

Reading The Fascicles Of Emily Dickinson written by Eleanor Elson Heginbotham and has been published by Ohio State University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with Literary Criticism categories.

Heginbotham's book focuses on Emily Dickinson's work as a deliberate writer and editor. The fascicles were forty small portfolios of her poems written between 1856 and 1864, composed on four to seven stationery sheets, folded, stacked, and sewn together with twine. What revelations might come from reading her poems in her own context? Are they simply "scrapbooks," as some claim, or are they evidence of conscious, canny editing? Read in their original places, each lyric becomes different-and more interesting-than when read in isolation. We cannot know why Dickinson compiled the books or what she thought of them, but we can observe what she left in them. What she left is visible only by noting the way the poem answers in a dialogue across the pages, the way lines spilling onto a second page introduce the next poem, the way openings suggest image clusters so that each book has its own network of concerns and language-not a story or philosophical preachment but an aesthetic wholeness. This book is the first to demonstrate that Dickinson's poetic and philosophical creativity is most startling when the reader observes the individual lyric in the poet's own, and only, context for them. For teacher, student, scholar, and poetry lover, Heginbotham creates an important new framework for understanding one of the most complex, clever, and profound U.S. poets.
