Je parle francais... un peu: Foundations in Beginning French teaches beginning French in a simple, clear, effective way. Many language textbooks focus solely on grammar, and are exclusively academic in focus. This engaging, interactive textbook makes students comfortable speaking and interacting in the target language, and puts them in charge of their own learning. Based on the premise that students best learn a language by using it to communicate with others rather than relying on technology, Je parle francais... un peu purposely steers students away from CDs, DVDs, and frenetic on-line learning. Instead, the book provides numerous opportunities for students to speak and converse with each other through a variety of activities, such as dialogues, stories, cultural readings, tongue-twisters, word games, and famous quotes. Also included are les Conversations fran aises, which are in-class skits that encourage students to have fun and experiment with the language without feeling intimidated by the need to be grammatically perfect. The book is concise, containing only the amount of material that can be covered in a one-semester course. Tear-out worksheets are built into the text, which are perfect for homework assignments or additional practice, thus making it unnecessary to buy a supplemental workbook for the course. The tone of the book is un-intimidating, and conversational. The ten chapters of the book teach the language through high-interest topics including college life and personal technology. Extensively class-tested, the material in Je parle francais... un peu gives students what they need to successfully master written and spoken French at the beginning level. Je parle francais... un peu is written for French 1 and 2 at the community college or lower division university level. It can also be used in Beginning French at the high school level. Dierdre Wolownick is Professor of French, Spanish, and ESL/EFL at American River College, Sacramento, CA. Since 1971, she has taught five foreign languages to students of all ages in New York, France, California, and Japan. Her credentials include an M.A. in French and B.A. in Romance Languages/Secondary Education (Queens College, CUNY), a D.U.E.L. (l'Universit de Reims, France), a Certificate in TESOL (UCLA), and many years evaluating international essays for Educational Testing Service. Having learned eight languages, Professor Wolownick knows what one needs to know in order to acquire language.

"Beginner's French 1" is a comprehensive workbook designed specifically for young learners who are taking French for enrichment purposes, at a pace of approximately one lesson a week for ten weeks. This book is the first of a three-part series that aims to facilitate students' acquisition of the language under the supervision of an instructor. If used in tandem with other resources, the book will enable them to have basic conversations about familiar topics and reach the cusp of A1/A2 proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The author, a French teacher, has personal experience in learning French and believes that foreign language learning can open doors to many opportunities. The book includes ten lessons that are each designed for one hour of instruction. At the end of the book, students will be able to introduce themselves, ask basic questions, and express their likes and dislikes. The book is meant to be written in, and each student should receive their own personal copy to take home. Instructors are advised to use this book in conjunction with other resources, including videos, audio, supplementary documents, etc. The material in each lesson is enough for one hour each week, but if your club or class meets more often, you could complete the book much faster. Overall, "Beginner's French 1" is an affordably-priced, accessible, and engaging workbook that provides a foundation for young learners to begin their French language learning journey. With hard work and dedication, students who complete this series in conjunction with Intermediate French and Advanced French will ideally reach the cusp of B1/B2 proficiency after three years.

French 1 written by Bilingy and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-02-05 with categories.

Meet Anna and Ben, the main characters of BILINGY, encounter their friends and follow them through their life, their careers and their little arguments, sometimes quirky, sometimes lazy and sometimes controversial, just like all of us.BILINGY always has texts side by side in both languages, so you never have to puzzle about the meaning of a sentence, it's right there. New words are highlighted so you can identify them quickly and they are built up systematically over the course of 5 books and 60 chapters.BILINGY goes beyond the basics - it is very easy to find a textbook for beginners, even in the most exotic languages, but beyond that it becomes more challenging. BILINGY provides a structured way of learning up to C1 in the Common European Framework for Reference for Languages and builds up a vocabulary of more than 1000 words on each level.Audio - listening comprehension is essential in real life - as we all found out the first time we stood there and tentatively tried a 'Where is the toilet, thanks? No, PLEASE, I mean please'. Download the Audio files for texts and vocabulary and use side by side with the book or on the go to immerse yourself fully. Grammar - is suspiciously absent from BILINGY. If you study at school or at uni, there is no way to avoid grammar, but in real life what matters is to understand what is going on and get your message across, then you can worry about the 'future perfect continuous'.

This volume forms part of a five volume set charting the progress of the nineteenth century movement which was instrumental in establishing international guidelines for the teaching of modern languages. It was during this period that for the first time, co-operation between phoneticians and teachers culminated in the publication of works that were instrumental in establishing the 'applied linguistic' approach to language teaching in the twentieth century. For the first time, too, the new science of psychology influenced a scientific theory of second language acquisition. The Reform Movement attracted support across Europe, spurring the development of new professional associations and journals. In turn, the publication in these journals of reports of innovative practice contributed to a greater sense of autonomy and professionalism among modern language teachers, who had hitherto tended to live under the shadow of classical language teaching. The practical innovations and theoretical suggestions for the foreign language teaching, although rooted in the nineteenth century, still have relevance today.
