Racism! Who's a racist and who's not? Do you know if you're a racist!? Racism is often very subtle, like justifying to yourself a slight prejudice you might have against people of color with "that's just the way it is." My book is for everyone but I mostly want people like me, people of color, to understand what goes on in every day life that's often so subtle, that as I mention, you don't even know you're being prejudiced against. And specifically my story is about the prejudice, the racism, that goes on where you would least expect it, at the upper levels of Management in Corporate America. As a Latino man who worked his way up from a "street kid" to an executive position in several large corporations, and, as I mentioned, I experienced racism that was often so subtle that I didn't know what hit me until I thought about it afterwards. For example my wife and I just moved into our newly built home. To get our keys we met with the Project Manager and Superintendent. We walked through the new house, we checked out the workmanship and made sure we were getting what we paid for. The Project Manager and Superintendent work for the builder. A National Builder. We looked around at some other new construction going on, the workers were mostly people of color, mostly Latinos. But the Project Manager and the Superintendent were white. That seems to be the norm these days. And not just recently, it seems to me like it's been that way forever! My story is about just that - the inequality among races; that's one of the reasons I wrote this book, I want to see that changed and want my book to help with that change. The American Dream For many people living in the United States, the path to wealth comes from home ownership. That's part of the "American Dream!" But the American Dream is much more than owning your own home. It's also about Equality in Business, Education, and Health and the way you're treated in the cities and communities. As a person of color, when you read my story I want you to feel and understand the differences that you may have had to overcome in your drive toward your own version of the American Dream. In some cases, you may still be struggling to attain that Dream. I want you to know what the real meanings are of the "Inner Circle" and the "Glass Ceiling." What those words really mean to those who are excluded, often subtly but very effectively, from those places. You will find out, first hand, what the term "White Ceiling" means and how I fought that exclusion at every step of my career. If you're a person of color reading this I want you to know that you have a right to seek and reach "Equality"...in everything! This book will help you navigate your journey, easier and with more awareness, so your own American Dream can become Your Reality. To your best life, Alex

Flamin Hot written by Richard Montanez and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06-15 with Business & Economics categories.

Soon to be a Hulu feature film directed by Eva Longoria – scheduled release for Summer 2023 Read the story everyone is talking about: how a janitor struggling to put food on the table invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in a secret test kitchen, breaking barriers and becoming the first Latino frontline worker promoted to executive at Frito-Lay. Richard Montañez is a man who made a science out of walking through closed doors, and his success story is an empowerment manual for anyone stuck in a dead-end job or facing a system stacked against them. Having taken a job mopping floors at Frito-Lay's California factory to support his family, Montañez took his future into his own hands and created the world’s hottest snack food: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. This bold move not only disrupted the food industry with some much-needed spice, but also shook up a corporate culture in which everyone stayed in their lane. When a top food scientist at Frito-Lay sent out a memo telling sales and marketing to kill the new product before it made it to the store shelves—jealous that someone with no formal education beyond the sixth grade could do his job—Montañez was forced to go rogue once again to save his idea. Through creative thinking, community building, and a few powerful mindset shifts, he outsmarted the naysayers who tried to get in his way. Flamin' Hot proves that you can break out of your career rut and that your present circumstances don't have to dictate your future.
