This unprecedented book offers all the details of the mathematical mechanics underlying modern modeling of skeletal muscle contraction. The aim is to provide an integrated vision of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology for this one understanding. The method is to take advantage of latest mathematical technologies — Eilenberg-Mac Lane category theory, Robinson infinitesimal calculus and Kolmogorov probability theory — to explicate Particle Mechanics, The Theory of Substances (categorical thermodynamics), and computer simulation using a diagram-based parallel programming language (stochastic timing machinery). Proofs rely almost entirely on algebraic calculations without set theory. Metaphors and analogies, and distinctions between representational pictures, mental model drawings, and mathematical diagrams are offered.AP level high school calculus students, high school science teachers, undergraduates and graduate college students, and researchers in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology may use this integrated publication to broaden their perspective on science, and to experience the precision that mathematical mechanics brings to understanding the molecular mechanism vital for nearly all animal behavior.

Our understanding of subatomic particles developed over many years, although a clear picture of the different particles, their interactions and their inter-relationships only emerged in the latter part of the twentieth century. The first "subatomic particles" to be investigated were those which exhibit readily observable macroscopic behavior, specifically these are the photon, which we observe as light and the electron, which is manifested as electricity. The true nature of these particles, however, only became clear within the last century or so. The development of the Standard Model provided clarification of the way in which various particles, specifically the hadrons, relate to one another and the way in which their properties are determined by their structure. The final piece, perhaps, of the final model, that is the means by which some particles acquire mass, has just recently been clarified with the observation of the Higgs boson. Since the 1970s it has been known that the measured solar neutrino flux was inconsistent with the flux predicted by solar models. The existence of neutrinos with mass would allow for neutrino flavor oscillations and would provide an explanation for this discrepancy. Only in the past few years, has there been clear experimental evidence that neutrinos have mass. The description of particle structure on the basis of the Standard Model, along with recent discoveries concerning neutrino properties, provides us with a comprehensive picture of the properties of subatomic particles. Part I of the present book provides an overview of the Standard Model of particle physics including an overview of the discovery and properties of the Higgs boson. Part II of the book summarizes the important investigations into the physics of neutrinos and provides an overview of the interpretation of these studies.

For scientists, students, and curious laypersons, this compilation, Proofs and Logical Arguments Supporting the Foundational Laws of Physics: A Handy Guide for Students and Scientists examines the most important laws and relationships taught in science courses, attaching a short and accessible proof or logical argument for each assertion. Every thoughtful person should seek to understand why we think we know what we say we know about the natural world. Otherwise, we may as well surrender ourselves to a world ruled by magic. In 136 essays, readers are provided with proofs and logical arguments supporting the laws and relationships that serve as the foundation of our rational understanding of reality. Among the essays included in this book, we will find proofs of Pauli’s exclusion principle, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, the principles of special relativity, the Schrodinger wave equation, Noether’s theorem, and many of the laws of physics and chemistry that no scientist should accept on blind faith alone. Laypersons will find that the ideas discussed in this volume are always thought-provoking and sometimes inspiring. For university undergraduates, the book will serve as an introduction to the core sciences. Graduate students may find this book to be a handy cross-disciplinary reference that explains how the tools of their own selected discipline have emerged from fundamental principles that unify all the sciences. Jules J. Berman received two baccalaureate degrees from MIT (from the Department of Mathematics, and from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences). He holds a PhD from Temple University, and an MD, from the University of Miami. His postdoctoral studies were completed at the US National Institutes of Health, and his residency was completed at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Berman served as Chief of Anatomic Pathology, Surgical Pathology, and Cytopathology at the Veterans administration Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he also held joint appointments at the University of Maryland Medical Center and at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. In 1998, he transferred back to the US National Institutes of Health, as a Medical Officer, and as the Program Director for Pathology Informatics in the Cancer Diagnosis Program at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Berman is a past president of the Association for Pathology Informatics, and is the 2011 recipient of the Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He has first-authored more than 100 journal articles and has written more than 20 single-author science books.

Reinventing The Sacred written by Stuart A Kauffman and has been published by Basic Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-01-10 with Science categories.
Consider the woven integrated complexity of a living cell after 3.8 billion years of evolution. Is it more awe-inspiring to suppose that a transcendent God fashioned the cell, or to consider that the living organism was created by the evolving biosphere? As the eminent complexity theorist Stuart Kauffman explains in this ambitious and groundbreaking new book, people who do not believe in God have largely lost their sense of the sacred and the deep human legitimacy of our inherited spirituality. For those who believe in a Creator God, no science will ever disprove that belief. In Reinventing the Sacred, Kauffman argues that the science of complexity provides a way to move beyond reductionist science to something new: a unified culture where we see God in the creativity of the universe, biosphere, and humanity. Kauffman explains that the ceaseless natural creativity of the world can be a profound source of meaning, wonder, and further grounding of our place in the universe. His theory carries with it a new ethic for an emerging civilization and a reinterpretation of the divine. He asserts that we are impelled by the imperative of life itself to live with faith and courage-and the fact that we do so is indeed sublime. Reinventing the Sacred will change the way we all think about the evolution of humanity, the universe, faith, and reason.

Have you ever wondered how the space and time of our everyday lives works - and why? David Pearcey is here to help, with A Holistic Story of Space and Time, a thorough exploration through our world of space and time. Explaining how space and time works as a complete system, the book is helped by brief accounts of the contributions of some of the great scientists and philosophers who helped us understand its components. Intended for the general reader who has no previous technical understanding, A Holistic Story of Space and Time delves into several areas - the types of geometries of space, the motion of matter in space, and how the force fields of matter pervade space, as well as how we perceive space and time by treating the brain as an information management system. It shows how the process of perception allows us to determine the true nature of the geometry of the space and time of the real world. Much more is also looked into in detail such as Einstein's special and general theories of relativity including his unified field theory, electromagnetism, and quantum physics, including charts and diagrams to explain some of the concepts involved. The final part of the book investigates the relationship between us who perceive the real world and the space and time of the real world, using the ideas developed by the philosophers Kant and Schopenhauer. This all combines to give the reader a uniquely broad look into our world and explains how it works as a total entity, from the cosmic world of the curved geometry of general relativity to the mysterious quantum world and then the philosophical aspects of how we are part of it. Anyone with an interest in the way things work will be well-suited to this extraordinary book that answers the why as well as the what and how.

Contemporary physics is not able to determine the true content of the universe. At the present time we do not have clear scientific answers to what are the universe, particle, mass, energy, gravity, infinity, space and many more components of the universe. They are left unanswered and opened for everybody to guess. We are given descriptive definitions based on study of particle motions so we have a glimpse of what the universe does but not even a rudimentary concept of what the universe is. This scientific insecurity gives various ideologists open field to preach their doctrines about what is the universe and what are humans in it. My background is in philosophy and physics and I spent most of my life in researching the universe content and properties. I found the real, logical answers, which as it happened do not comply with what physics at the present time calls The Standard Model of the Universe. Most of hypothetical work accomplished in this field became somehow an ideology of the modern science and a dogma of a sort. Society passionately protects its dogmas as it did in Galileos time so my theory will provoke resistance among some contemporary physicists and ideologists because it is not based on quantum mechanics mathematics and principle of uncertainty. Subject of quantum mechanics is universe behaviour motions quantities. It only recognizes what the universe does and it cannot even express what universe is. For the real answers I turned to logic and by a painstaking logical process of simplification, comparison and elimination I came to conclusions which are rather surprising, original and are supported by all true laws of physics and correctly interpreted experiments. I replaced quantum mechanics with natural logic in the new model of the universe. None of this has ever been published.
