Esta nueva salida de la edición española de la Estética krauseana pasa a integrarse en esta colección junto a la Estética y Teoría literaria de Milá y Fontanls, que es el lugar que por vinculación histórica y de dialéctica intelectual le corresponde.El pensamiento estético de Krause ha de entenderse por relación a Kant-Fichte y a Hegel tanto en el sentido de reinicio como de diálogo filosófico y controversia. Su punto de partida, necesariamente el sujeto kantiano, gira sin embargo en otro sentido que el “romántico” de Fichte. Krause también se sirve de las experiencias de Schiller y Schelling, posibilitando un orden filosófico más comprehensivo. De ahí el aspecto último de gran relieve krauseano, su especificidad neoplatónica conducente a una eficiente perspectiva de la organicidad del Todo. Esta nueva edición del Compendio de Estética incorpora un Prefacio que da cuenta con brevedad y precisión de la ‘cuestión estética’ en España. Se trataba de estudiar y editar en lengua española, de una parte, algunas obras clave del pensamiento estético moderno, ampliando ese propósito a las fundamentales creadoras de la Estética como disciplina en muestro país, lo cual por otra parte permite acceder con naturalidad en el caso de Krause a un lugar de encuentro entre ambos puntos de mira. La idea es avanzar en la resolución de tres problemas muy diversos pero igualmente graves, mediante (1) la contribución, desde el ámbito español, a un allegamiento de relaciones entre filosofía y filología como única resolución humanística posible; (2) ofrecer una perspectiva para los estudios estéticos diversa de la dispersión dominante y la unilateralidad plástica; y (3) discernir el origen de la disciplina en España, cosa que estaba aún pendiente de dilucidar por raro que pueda parecer.
