Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europas - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 2,0, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: [...] Diese Arbeit beschreibt zunächst die Anfänge des Fußballs, charakterisiert dabei die unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen und vergleicht sie mit dem Fußball im Mittelalter. Anschließend legt die Arbeit ihren Fokus auf den Fußball im Mittelalter und untersucht diesen in seinen unterschiedlichen Formen. Dabei werden zunächst der englische und anschließend der italienische Fußball beleuchtet, wobei der Ablauf des Spiels, die Regeln, die Rahmenbedingungen sowie die Bedeutung erörtert werden. Danach wird die besondere Rolle des "Calcios" beschrieben. Es wird beschrieben, welchen Stellenwert der italienische Fußball gehabt hat, was für seinen Aufstieg verantwortlich war und wer davon profitiert hat. Dabei wird vor allem auf den prunkvollen Rahmen des "Calcios" sowie seine politische Bedeutung für die Florentiner Regierung der "Medici" eingegangen. Auch die Unterschiede des Florentiner "Calcios" sowie des im ländlichen Italien praktizierten "Calcios" werden erklärt. Diese Arbeit widmet sich den Fragen, wie sich der damalige Fußball charakterisieren und geschichtlich einordnen lässt, wie er sich vom heutigen unterscheidet und welche Unterschiede zwischen dem englischen Fußball und dem "Calcio" bestanden. Darüber hinaus werden die Fragen untersucht, welche soziale und politische Bedeutung der "Calcio" gehabt hat und welche Folgen er für die Bevölkerung sowie für die Regierung hatte.

This book traces international developments in the hooligan phenomenon since the Heysel tragedy of 1985. The authors make special reference to the troubled European championships in West Germany in 1988 and look critically at political responses to the problem. The authors used ‘participant observation’ in their research on British fans at the World Cup in Spain, and at matches in Rotterdam and Copenhagen, and capture the authentic voice of football hooliganism in their interviews. In this analysis of patterns of football violence the authors suggest some short-term proposals for restricting seriously violent and disorderly behaviour at continental matches and put forward a long-term strategy to deal with the root causes of hooligan behaviour.
