Though more and more individuals diagnosed with cancer become survivors, there still remains hundreds of thousands forced to succumb to their disease. How oncology specialists communicate bad news, discuss treatment options, and interact throughout the cancer journey greatly influences the expectations patients and their loved ones have regarding the goals and outcomes of treatment. There is limited residency education or nursing education about how to communicate effectively with patients who we know will be facing end of life rather than survival. Research studies have validated that more than 40% of patients with metastatic disease believe that their chemotherapy treatments they are receiving just weeks before they die were for the purpose of curing them of their cancers. Hospice remains an under-utilised service due to the uncomfortable feelings it causes when discussing alternative options to treatment rather than continuing toxic drug therapy. On average, patients do not get referred until too ill to receive any more chemotherapy treatments. This is a time to be truly providing the patient and family patient centred care, factoring in their life goals, their hopes for themselves that transition over time, their hopes for their family without them, and how we can innovatively help them reach these important goals even after they have died, by identifying or serving as a "Hope Fulfiller".

In today's world, so many live with disappointment, never daring to dream or to have hope. In life, we all eventually encounter trouble; however, God promises, "I will transform the valley of trouble into a gateway of hope." In every valley of trouble or disappointment, there is a gateway of hope waiting to be found. What lies beyond the gateway? A better future. A shift from deferred hope to God-given desires fulfilled. A glimpse of the age to come. If you want to discover that gateway and develop a rugged, confident, biblical hope that is more than mere wishful thinking, then this book is for you. Full of gripping personal stories that made me weep and worship. The Fulfilling Life written by Paul K. S. Kim and has been published by Xulon Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Christian life categories.

Dr. Paul K. S Kim believes that the human desire to live a fulfilling life on earth is one of the universal phenomena of all ages. This quest is not, he says, just a dream or fantasy in our mind; it can become a reality. In the Bible, God reveals that no person is born with the fulfilling life but that anyone can reach this life through faith in God. This faith in God is the channel for them to achieve the fulfilling life. As God provides eternal life in Christ, so also in Christ God makes possible the fulfilling life. Paul Kim guides believers to this blessed state-the fulfilling life in Christ. Dr. Paul K.S. Kim, a native of Korea, immigrated to the U.S. in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army and an Army Reserve Chaplain. Kim holds Master degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from which he received the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award. He served as the National Alumni President and currently serves as the National Adviser to City Alumni Fellowship. He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife were the first couple to receive the Alumni Achievement Award. He served as a trustee of the International Mission Board, as State Convention President of the Baptist Convention of New England, and has traveled to over seventy countries. Kim has written Biblical Principles for Church Planting and Practical Church Planting for Growth. Kim lives with his wife, the former Rebekah Lee, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where Kim serves as the founding pastor of Berkland Baptist Church.

Living The Life Unexpected written by Jody Day and has been published by Pan Macmillan this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-25 with Health & Fitness categories.

‘The book to recommend to patients when they face coming to terms with unavoidable childlessness.' – British Medical Journal In Living the Life Unexpected, Jody Day addresses the experience of involuntary childlessness and provides a powerful, practical guide to help those negotiating a future without children come to terms with their grief; a grief that is only just beginning to be recognized by society. This friendly, practical, humorous and honest guide from one of the world’s most respected names in childless support offers compassion and understanding and shows how it’s possible to move towards a creative, happy, meaningful and fulfilling future – even if it’s not the one you had planned. Millions of people are now living a life without children, almost double that of a generation ago and the numbers are rising still. Although some are childfree by choice, many others are childless due to infertility or circumstance and are struggling to come to terms with their uncertain future. Although most people think that those without children either 'couldn't' or 'didn't want’ to be parents, the truth is much more complex. Jody Day was forty-four when she realized that her quest to be a mother was at an end. She presumed that she was through the toughest part, but over the next couple of years she was hit by waves of grief, despair and isolation. Eventually she found her way and in 2011 created Gateway Women, the global friendship and support network for childless women which has now helped almost two million people worldwide. This edition, previously titled Rocking the Life Unexpected, has been extensively revised and updated, with significant additional content and case studies from forty involuntarily childless people (mostly women) from around the world.
