This delightful book introduces parents, teachers, and most importantly, children to the elements of creativity as described by E. Paul Torrance (Creative Vision, 2013) based on J. P. Guilford's (1956) four divergent thinking factors. The author, a teacher of children and teachers for 40 plus years, often began her classes by teaching students about J. P. Guilford's four divergent thinking factors as defined in E. Paul Torrance's Tests of Creative Thinking including (a) fluency--the number of relevant responses, (b) flexibility--the number of different categories or shifts in responses, (c) originality--the number of unusual yet relevant ideas ... , and (d) elaboration--the number of details used to extend a response" (Hebert, Cramond, Speirs, Millar, & Silvian, 2002, p. 31). Once children understand the elements of creativity, they become much more creative in their thinking, their projects, and their writing. They generate more ideas, use more categories of ideas, are more original, and add more details to their writing and projects! This book introduces these elements of creativity to children and allows them to vicariously score for the elements in some simple illustrations. The book can be used with children of all ages. Extra scoring pages are included for creative contests that the reader designs. Have fun as you share these powerful elements and help your children and students be more creative, thus enjoying life and work more!

Everyone wants their child to be creative but there has never been an explicit way to teach creativity, until now. Introducing the Creative Kids Book Series! With teaching material generated from the gifted & talented classroom, we explore the exciting world of creativity through the eyes of fun-loving friends. Each book in the series focuses on one of the four elements of creativity: Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration. In this series, elementary-age children will learn about these key elements and how they can be used to bring their imaginations to life. So come along and enjoy the adventure! In this children's book we meet Ollie and his classmates. They are challenged by their teacher to create something original out of a wire hanger. Ollie and his friends come up with amazing ideas for their project and have fun sharing them with each other. Using real photographs from authentic DIY projects, Ollie's Original Ideas shows how children can stretch their creative abilities with original thinking. Whether you're a parent reading to a child, or a teacher with their students, you can use this book to show an amazing example of being creative. Of the four elements of creativity that our Creative Kids Book Series focuses on, Ollie's Original Ideas focuses on Originality. This book is a celebration of the joy and wonder of childhood creativity, and a reminder that we all have the power to generate countless ideas, if we just let our minds take flight.

Being Creative Inside And Outside The Classroom written by John Baer and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-05 with Education categories.

This book has two primary goals - to show teachers how to teach their students to be more creative thinkers and to help them to develop their own creativity as teachers - and it shows teachers how to do these things in ways that don't conflict with skill development and knowledge acquisition. In fact, teachers will learn how to teach for creativity in ways that result in improved skills and greater content knowledge. Teaching for creativity and creative teaching together will result in much higher levels of both student engagement and student learning. The book focuses on three big, well-researched ideas related to creativity training - divergent thinking, intrinsic motivation, and the CPS model of creative problem solving - and shows how to apply these ideas in designing lessons that promote creativity as well as encourage the development of content-based skills and knowledge. The book is written in a way that makes it easy for teachers to make these ideas their own, with many examples for use in K-12 classrooms.
