Handbook of Nanophysics: Functional Nanomaterials illustrates the importance of tailoring nanomaterials to achieve desired functions in applications. Each peer-reviewed chapter contains a broad-based introduction and enhances understanding of the state-of-the-art scientific content through fundamental equations and illustrations, some in color. This volume covers various composites, including carbon nanotube/polymer composites, printable metal nanoparticle inks, polymer–clay nanocomposites, biofunctionalized titanium dioxide-based nanocomposites, nanocolorants, ferroic nanocomposites, and smart composite systems. It also describes nanoporous materials, a giant nanomembrane, graphitic foams, arrayed nanoporous silicon pillars, nanoporous anodic oxides, metal oxide nanohole arrays, carbon clathrates, self-assembled monolayers, epitaxial graphene, and graphene nanoribbons, nanostructures, quantum dots, and cones. After focusing on the methods of nanoindentation and self-patterning, the book discusses nanosensors, nano-oscillators, and hydrogen storage. Nanophysics brings together multiple disciplines to determine the structural, electronic, optical, and thermal behavior of nanomaterials; electrical and thermal conductivity; the forces between nanoscale objects; and the transition between classical and quantum behavior. Facilitating communication across many disciplines, this landmark publication encourages scientists with disparate interests to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects and incorporate the theory and methodology of other areas into their work.

Rational Design Of Multi Functional Nanomaterials written by Carlos Lodeiro and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-16 with categories.

One of the most important issues, when a nanomaterial is designed, is to control the synthetic pathways to ensure the final desired product. A combination of dry and wet procedures, as well as chemical and physical methodologies, it is possible to successfully prepare new multifunctional nanomaterials, often as a result of multidisciplinary cooperation between chemists, physics, biologist, physicians, material engineers, etc. Drug delivery, environmental detection of contaminants, and many industrial applications directly rely on properties such as water solubility, permeability, cell penetration, shape control, and size of the monodispersed nanoparticle, among others. Functionalized nanomaterials play a crucial role in modern research areas because of their unique physical and chemical properties, explored in many different fields including medicine and biology, new materials, pharmacology as drug delivery systems, and in environmental analysis for sensing new contaminants, among other technical and industrial applications. For future technological applications, the rational design of these multifunctional nanomaterials is critical, and often depends on the excellent control of the organic and inorganic chemical reactions involved during production. The success of their applications relies directly on the photophysical properties created in the final material, including the emission of light or colorimetric responses, water solubility, selectivity, sensitivity, stability, etc. For example, from an analytical point of view, the detection and quantification of emerging analytes is directly dependent on the selectivity and sensitivity showed by the material in a complex media.

This book contains reviews of recent experimental and theoretical results related to nanomaterials. It focuses on novel functional materials and nanostructures in combination with silicon on insulator (SOI) devices, as well as on the physics of new devices and sensors, nanostructured materials and nano scaled device characterization. Special attention is paid to fabrication and properties of modern low-power, high-performance, miniaturized, portable sensors in a wide range of applications such as telecommunications, radiation control, biomedical instrumentation and chemical analysis. In this book, new approaches exploiting nanotechnologies (such as UTBB FD SOI, Fin FETs, nanowires, graphene or carbon nanotubes on dielectric) to pave a way between “More Moore” and “More than Moore” are considered, in order to create different kinds of sensors and devices which will consume less electrical power, be more portable and totally compatible with modern microelectronics products.
