Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject Tourism - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,7, Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, course: Specials of Leisure Markets, language: English, abstract: A theme park is an amusement park in which all the settings and attractions have a central theme, such as the world of the future. So the question is how an amusement park is defined. It is a commercially operated park offering various forms of entertainment, such as arcade games, carousels, roller coasters, and performers, as well as food, drink, and souvenirs. Amusement parks differ from circuses, carnivals, and world's fairs (see exposition) in that, parks are permanently located entertainment complexes, open either all year or seasonally every year. In today's theme parks more or less exotic worlds which do not exist in reality are staged on a delimited area as a setting for entertainment (cp. Stemshorn 2000, p.9). A huge number of leisure opportunities are packaged within a theme park and serve as a contrast to everyday life (cp. Opaschowski 1998, p.24 et seq.). They are characterized by following features: # Sophisticated, extensive services for different target groups # Extensive and differentiated gastronomic offers; # all inclusive entertainment range # Continuity and change # Usage of marketing instruments like special prices or special offers, joint venture or special offers for target groups; # Possibilities for overnight stays by integrated or nearby situated hotels; # Perfection and professionalism as quality mark; intensive training of staff; # Attractions: the general range of attractions includes rides with a lot of thrill, nostalgic carousels, clowns, shooting galleries and so on; # Artists, stunt- shows, music- shows, parades, animal- shows, firework and more. (www.kuwi.uni.linz.ac.at/LehreUniLinz.htm) On the following pages theses features and some more characteristics of theme parks will be explained in detail by using the two examples "Seaworld, Orlan

This study aims to find out what are the critical reasons that result in the significantly different performance of Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Resort, and what experience and lessons that the new Shanghai Disneyland can learn from. A comparative analysis is conducted from external and internal aspects between the two Disney theme parks in Asia. The results indicate that unfair financial arrangement and the small size of Hong Kong Disneyland have hefty impacts on profits while the Tokyo Disney Resort succeeds by providing a Japanized American Dream to Japanese visitors. Although there are other influential factors, the writer argues that the reason lies mostly in the financial arrangement and the small size of Hong Kong Disneyland. The two cases can provide experience and lessons to future theme parks in China, especially projects themed in international companies.

From the magical colossus of Disney to the charming quaintness of Tivoli Gardens, theme parks are as established as schools and hospitals. Theme parks have become dynamic destinations where people test their courage and learn to have fun in safe environments. Theme parks are also economic catalysts that offer employment, as they require a supporting structure of roads, hotels, restaurants, and shops. Most importantly, they give us a place to celebrate life's milestones. After each reason that theme parks are modern shrines, the author presents a snapshot of a park. These snapshots represent theme parks around the globe. For example, Disneyland in California represents the ideal of nostalgia while Germany's Europa-Park portrays the virtue of interacting with locals. Take an interesting, informative, and fun look at why theme parks around the globe are so magical with The Ride of Your Life.

I write this book concerns to explain how Walt Disney theme entertainment park which how applies knowledge management strategy to solve strategic and human resource problems successfully as well as I also give reasons to prove why it can not be theme park leader to influence USA economic and employment growth in the future and give recommendation how it can raise its ability to be the entertainment theme park leader in the future. I choose Walt Disney theme entertainment park. The reason is because I feel Disney is the famous leader among its similar theme entertainment park competitors as well as I also feel Disney knowledge management strategy is very successful to achieve to attract different countries travellers to choose to visit this theme entertainment park to compare to other similar theme entertainment park competitors in USA, Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, China etc. countries. In this book, I shall indicate in the beginning, Walt Disney could not attract many different countries travellers to visit it successfully. Due to it had no effective strategies to operate its theme park to attract many travellers to choose to stay to play longer time to compare its similar theme park competitors. For example, it lacked knowledge to evaluate whether which aspects of it's staffs job duties who need to be changed to adopt visitors' needs. In my most interesting research, I shall indicate whether Walt Disney had decided how to apply knowledge management strategy to concentrate on improving which aspects of its some staffs' job nature as well as how to improve it's queue methods to achieve to avoid its clients feel unhappy and angry and boring during they are queuing . In the result, it would cause them to feel its ticket sale price is not unreasonable to be valued to spend much time to wait the queue to play entertainment facilities. Finally, I shall give my opinions to explain how Disney changes it's human resource activities to improve performance efficient in order to increase profit and client visiting numbers both as well as I shall give methods to indicate how it needs to solve internal organization problems if it wants to assist America economic growth in long term for my conclusion. This book consists three chapters. The first chapter concerns what Disney background was and what my research aims were. The second chapter concerns what my research and analysis results are and what Disney knowledge management strategy had been implemented. The final chapter concerns to explain why Disney needs to change its internal strategies to raise its competition if it wants to be theme park leader to influence USA economic growth in long term.

This book seeks to underscore the need for scientific approaches to first understanding and then managing tourist interactions with marine wildlife. It draws upon the work of leading natural and social scientists whose work serves the interests of sustainable wildlife-based marine tourism. Thus from within the natural science disciplines of marine biology, environmental science, behavioural ecology, conservation biology, and wildlife management come chapters that provide insights into the effects of human disturbance on marine wildlife, the impacts that tourists may have upon wild animals, and the management approaches to mitigating impacts that may in the long term be biologically significant. Equally from the social science disciplines of geography, sociology, management and social anthropology are drawn chapters that explore demand for marine wildlife experiences, the benefits that visitors derive from their experiences, ethical and legislative contexts, and management issues that arise when tourists interact with populations of wild animals in coastal and marine environments.
