This book analyzes the likelihood of intelligent civilizations from two different standpoints: firstly, using the famous Drake equation and, secondly, by analyzing some of the most popular hypotheses about the likely behavior of intelligent alien civilizations. The existence of intelligent extraterrestrial civilizations in the universe is one of the most intriguing scientific and philosophical problems. Is it possible that we are the only intelligent species in this incredibly vast universe? Enrico Fermi, one of the greatest physicists of the 20th century, posed the same question during a lunch with his colleagues in 1950. What are the implications for a universe where there is only one intelligent species? The universe may be stranger than we think.

An epic, full-color visual journey through all scales of the universe In The Zoomable Universe, the award-winning astrobiologist Caleb Scharf and the acclaimed artist Ron Miller take us on an epic tour through all known scales of reality, from the largest possible magnitude to the smallest. Drawing on cutting-edge science, they begin at the limits of the observable universe, a scale spanning 10^27 meters—about 93 billion light-years. And they end in the subatomic realm, at 10^-35 meters, where the fabric of space-time itself confounds all known rules of physics. In between are galaxies, stars and planets, oceans and continents, plants and animals, microorganisms, atoms, and much, much more. Stops along the way—all enlivened by Scharf’s sparkling prose and his original insights into the nature of our universe—include the brilliant core of the Milky Way, the surface of a rogue planet, the back of an elephant, and a sea of jostling quarks. The Zoomable Universe is packed with more than 100 original illustrations and infographics that will captivate readers of every age. It is a whimsical celebration of discovery, a testament to our astounding ability to see beyond our own vantage point and chart a course from the farthest reaches of the cosmos to its subatomic depths—in short, a must-have for the shelves of all explorers.

As a ufologist, I find the times we live in incredibly exciting. Many recent events point to UFOs and their presence here on Earth. Yes, I am a firm believer in the existence of UFOs, and I am entirely convinced that these phenomena are happening right now on Earth, as well as having occurred far back in time. There are simply too many stories, sightings, autopsies, and other unexplained events throughout history to dismiss them. However, I had my own personal experience. In the early 1970s, during a field trip with my entire school class, we witnessed a UFO up close. A classic flying saucer slowly and safely hovered a few meters above the treetops. We witnessed this phenomenon about 100 meters away in the open field, watching for about 10-15 seconds. The speed of the aircraft was probably similar to how quickly you or I would run the same 600 feet distance. It was a spring morning with normal weather. This experience ignited my interest in UFOs, and after that, I became fully convinced of the existence of this phenomenon. That said, I am also critical of various TV series, books, and other media that sensationalize these topics. Not everything thats labeled as an alien encounter or UFO sighting is what it seems. There are often many possible explanations for these phenomena. But what would happen globally if all governments went public and said that UFOs and aliens exist? Mass hysteria would probably break out immediately, and the stock markets and the economy would collapse with people taking to the streets armed with guns. Or do you think it would play out differently? I wish you good luck as you dive into this book and hope it gives you something to ponder! Bonus material, over 120 observations through history

What We Know About Extraterrestrial Intelligence written by Michael Ashkenazi and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-23 with Science categories.
Have you ever wondered what could happen when we discover another communicating species outside the Earth? This book addresses this question in all its complexity. In addition to the physical barriers for communication, such as the enormous distances where a message can take centuries to reach its recipient, the book also examines the biological problems of communicating between species, the problems of identifying a non-Terrestrial intelligence, and the ethical, religious, legal and other problems of conducting discussions across light years. Most of the book is concerned with issues that could impinge on your life: how do we share experiences with ETI? Can we make shared laws? Could we trade? Would they have religion? The book addresses these and related issues, identifying potential barriers to communication and suggesting ways we can overcome them. The book explores this topic through reference to human experience, through analogy and thought experiment, while relying on what is known to-date about ourselves, our world, and the cosmos we live in.
