Di che genere sarà la quarta rivoluzione industriale, come superare il divario di genere nelle STEM? Quanto tempo ci vorrà e quali sono le competenze richieste? Il futuro è già dentro la scuola di oggi nelle sue metodologie e nei suoi contenuti? Queste e molte altre sono le domande a cui il libro cerca di dare una riposta. La base empirica è una ricerca che ha coinvolto una rete di studenti e docenti di scuole superiori torinesi, imprese ricercatori e istituzioni. Si è quindi costruito un percorso di formazione orientato al coinvolgimento di ragazze e ragazzi come cittadini attivi e partecipi della quarta rivoluzione industriale. Tutti siamo consapevoli di quanto le donne scontino una sistematica discriminazione nel mondo del lavoro, e in numerosi altri ambiti della società. Leggere che serviranno 150, 130 o 100 anni per raggiungere la parità di genere non fa differenza. Sono cifre enormi che diventano vittime della loro stessa grandezza: più il loro atterraggio è lontano nel tempo e meno sembrano essere importanti. La quotidianità, con le sue priorità sempre troppo imminenti, le schiaccia sotto un macigno di indifferenza, rendendole sottofondo appena accennato per narrazioni rituali. Con questo libro proviamo a invertire il senso comune di narrazione. Abbiamo perciò intervistato sette donne che la parità l’hanno raggiunta e le loro testimonianze rappresentano il punto di partenza, oltre che la conferma, che la parità è urgente, giusta e vantaggiosa per la crescita economica e sociale del Paese. L’Italia raggiungerà la parità di genere non prima del 2154. Serviranno 131 anni. Un tempo che non abbiamo e che non possiamo permetterci di avere.

The gender gap that traverses the planet is one of the most blatant democratic failures, and it is no longer an additional or accessory issue but one that is crucial to the wellbeing of both men and women. The strategies of intervention mapped out in international programmes (gender mainstreaming and empowerment) underscore the commitment and the responsibilities of educational processes. The aim of the book is to stimulate reflection on the role of education in the establishment of gender identities and in fostering the human rights of women in contemporary society. With a view to an interdisciplinary feminist and feminine analysis, which is essential to the development and interweaving of gender issues and points of educational interest, the question is posed as to whether a new sensitivity and a more widespread gender culture could successfully trigger daily practices of gender-oriented education.
